"Star View Cabin" - Powder Horn Mountain
THE SPACE
NEW HOT TUB!! Welcome to Star View Cabin! The space has been setup to accommodate up to 10 guests comfortably. With no stairs, the main floor includes kitchen, living room, 1 King Bedroom and 4 Twins (2 bunks) in Second Bedroom and a full bath. Upstairs includes another full bath, along with a 1 King Bedroom. Downstairs includes an open family room with 1 Queen bed, full bath, laundry room and lower deck access. The new, well equipped kitchen has all new appliances including a gas range. All appliances are full size and smaller appliances like crock pot, blender, Keurig and drip coffee maker, cooking utensils and pots and pans, cookie sheets, strainers, knives etc. are included. Exceptionally well stocked for the pickiest cook. Approx. 8 miles to the closest grocery store but Instacart delivers from several stores if anything is forgotten. Wireless Wifi internet has supported multiple people working from home and is Fiber Speed over a hard line.
Renters have access to the outdoor pool during the summer months as well as hiking trails, clubhouse, fitness center, tennis, campground, fishing, paddle boating, and more at no additional cost. Don’t forget to star gaze in the amazingly dark sky!
Just minutes to Boone, Blowing Rock, Banner Elk, Rocky Knob Park, Blue Ridge Parkway, Tweetsie Railroad, New River Tubing, horseback riding at Leatherwood Stables, breweries, wineries, camping, fly fishing, and Elk/Laurel Creek, this property is perfect for your next family vacation. Drive less than an hour to ski or snow tube with the kids, 30 minutes to App State football games, and High Country festivals/concerts for more family fun! The house is a great getaway, located just a few hours from Charlotte, Greensboro, Winston Salem, and Raleigh.
All linens, starter paper towels and toilet paper provided. Dogs welcome with $50 fee, max two. Smoking is prohibited at all cabins and there is a $250 fine for anyone that smokes or vapes inside. Virtual tour is available. There is no additional fee to use the community amenities. You will receive booking correspondence when you book that will have the combination to your house as well as your gate code. Please print this off prior to arrival. Fishing in the ponds within the community is welcome without a permit. If you fish on Elk Creek you will need a fishing license. The ponds are not for swimming but the river at the campground is a great place to take a dip! This house does not have an outdoor firepit but we encourage guests to reserve a campground site for their night of s'mores! Wood burning fireplaces on two levels. Wood is not provided but you can order some from your property manager when you book. Check in time is 4pm and check out is 10am.
Guest access
You will easily be able to park two cars in the driveway a third depending on size, would also be easy to park. The cabin is at the end of the street so if you need to park past the house you can or additional vehicles can be parked in the overflow lot by the clubhouse. You will need a car to get around.
Other things to note
You do not need 4wd unless we are expecting a nasty storm and you need to get out right away. Please be prepared for those situations. There is a gated entry to the community and you do need to come in the front gate. You will get a guest pass at the front gate when you check in during normal business hours or on Sat from 7am till 5pm. If you arrive in the evening please just pick up your pass the next day.

Cabin was well appointed. Beautiful views. Plenty of comfortable rooms for our stay. Did not use hot tub due to the weather. Cerebrated Thanksgiving

We loved this home! It was perfect for a girls weekend. The hostess answered any and every question before and during the stay. Would recommend and already looking to book next year!

Firstly, I have been renting cabins yearly for over 15 years and I have never left a bad review yet. I know things happen and it did not ruin our time here but the stay was not the best. When we arrived at 8:30 pm and opened the door, we were hit with a dead animal smell. I immediately sent a text letting them know of the odor. No response. We looked everywhere for this dead animal ourselves. I sent a follow up text the next morning at 10:40am. They asked if they could come over to check it out, we said yes, we waiting around for hours, finally I jumped in the shower and my spouse took a nap. We received a text at 1:50pm stating they knocked for 10 mins but we did not answer and to let them know when they could come back. Maybe they did and we did not hear it but I responding within 5 mins saying they could come back that we were here waiting for them, instead of going into town. No response. I sent 5 texts with no response. The next morning after we left the cabin to come home, we got a text apologizing for them not having the ability to come back out. I cannot understand why they did not call or text while they said they were knocking. We could not use the downstairs AT ALL due to the smell and the kitchen/living was pretty bad. Luckily the smell did not make it to the upstairs bedroom and bathroom. Now, I know things happen, mice get in and die. We were not upset about that one bit. It was the lack of response and care that we spent a lot of money for this weekend to stay here and it smelled like a dead animal inside. Like gag worthy. Other than that the cabin was clean and the bed upstairs was comfortable. The hot tub was capped out on the temperature at 99 degrees which was okay during the day but not the temperature a hot tub should be when its 50 degrees outside ( normal temp is 102-103), we were cold in there which was disappointing. They never even offered some money back or anything to compensate for the dead animal smell we had to deal with all weekend.
