About this cottage rental

Entire Cottage, private pier and deck, water birds & sea life, kayaking and more. Boathouse Cottage on the Bay is .01 to city gates

Our beautifully renovated Boat House/Carriage House is located on direct waterfront with ocean view of inlet and the bay/river in St Aug.property and between two National Shrines within a 10 minutes walk. The Shrine of Our Lady de la Leche at Mission de Dios is the oldest Marian Shrine in the US and was most recently elevated to a National Shrine by the US Conference of Catholic Bishops. The Greek Orthodox National Shrine St Photios is located about 10 minutes down on St George St. Walk the Bridge of Lions which is about 10 minutes walking through the fort green and along the bay front by the horse and carriages. Trolleys and Ripley's are 1 block away. Restaurants and town 5 to 10 minute walk. Relax on the screened covered patio and watch the soldiers load the cannons. Awesome!

Located at the water’s edge, this extraordinary 1920’s home once served as a working boathouse! And while it’s maritime charm still remains, the newly updated accommodations feature all the comforts of home.

Two beautifully appointed bedrooms and a comfortable queen sized pull-out couch in the spacious Florida Room serve as your sleeping options, accompanied by two full baths with your choice of a tub or shower.

Along with the fantastic Florida Room, you’ll find a delightful screened in porch that will have you kicking back to sip a cool beverage as you enjoy the parade of seagoing vessels that pass along your view of the waterway throughout the day.

However, it is truly the majesty of waking to the spectacular sunrise and closing the day bathed in the glow of the afternoon sunset that will have you know that you have chosen the ideal location for your getaway to St. Augustine!

There are dozens of wonderful restaurants in the city, however if it is homemade that you prefer, a fully equipped gourmet kitchen and new gas BBQ grill are at the ready for you to enjoy.

You will also have access to everything from a combination gas range/electric oven, microwave, coffee maker, and dining/cooking/service ware to express your culinary expertise. The kitchen also features a washer/dryer so no need to overpack!

Our dock is perfect for those with boats. The cost is $2/foot/day for a boat. If you are bringing a boat we need to be informed when your reservation is made. You are welcome to fish off the dock, but please no cleaning fish in the house. Please note, there is no place to launch or park a boat trailer at the house, so you'll need to arrange to store the trailer at another location.

Native seagulls and pelicans love our private pier but they are more than happy to share it, so BYOK Bring Your Own Kayak or rent one locally. If you prefer a guided tour, there are many experts in town who want nothing more than to impart their wealth of knowledge with comprehensive tours of our marshes, waterways, and local sea life.

We have private parking for our guests so tuck away your keys and pack some comfortable shoes. Walking is a great way to get about town, with the heart of the city ten minutes away. There are also additional unique ways to traverse the cobblestone streets. You may opt to hail a romantic horse-drawn carriage or hop aboard an old fashioned trolley. The inexpensive pedi-cabs are also a fun experience.

The Castillo de San Marcos will be your neighbor to the south while in residence and is a “must see” (or hear) with it’s daily cannon firings! A day at the beach, galleries, iconic historic venues, antiquing, and plenty of shopping in the city or the outlet malls will have you ready to plan a return visit, so book now. Your warm welcome is waiting!

This home is beautiful and nearly perfect for our stay. The location was within walking distance to the Fort and Downtown area of St. Augustine. We watched sea turtles and dolphins feed in the evenings which was a beautiful sight. We would complain that the house smelled of awful feline/rodent urine and while we were sitting on the back dock, we noticed a raccoon that had made its way into the roofing of the home, which could explain the putrid smell. I had contacted the host many times before our arrival but was unsuccessful in connecting with him until after our check-in. The home next door gave me dilapidated horror movie vibes, but it was very quiet and undisturbing. There seem to be many cameras around the property, could only imagine that there were some inside the home too. Great Location, and great potential, but would not return.
