There is a well-maintained gravel driveway to get to the house. Our home provides tons of space to spread out and relax! We own the neighboring property, which is also rented out and can be rented with this property if you're looking for more space! Inquire for more information!
Nestled on a private, charming stretch of the Shenandoah River, Castaway Cottage is your ultimate riverfront adventure base. With 4 bedrooms sleeping up to 10 guests, this is the perfect escape for friend groups, families, and anyone who believes the best memories are made outdoors.
Step off the porch and you're steps from one of Virginia's most beloved rivers. Kayak, tube, fish or swim--the Shenandoah is your backyard playground from sunrise to sunset. No experience needed, just a sense of adventure and willingness to get wet. Inside there's plenty of space for everyone to spread out, share meals and swap stories from the day. Cozy enough to unwind after a long day on the water, spacious enough that nobody's in each other's way.

*4 Bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. Each bedroom conveniently has their own private bathroom. Sleeps up to 10 guests.
*Covered back deck with gas fireplace, hot tub, and some of the best views of the Shenandoah River, while still enjoying the comfort of your vacation home.
*All bedrooms feature high rated mattresses, luxurious bedding, all linens provided (please bring river towels)
* Updated kitchen with stainless steel appliances, an abundance of cabinetry, Quartz Countertops. Fully stocked with drip coffee maker, crockpot, blender, toaster, plates, cups, wine glasses, silverware, cookware, pots and pans, etc!
*Propane BBQ grill and Firepit!

*Minutes from SNP for hiking and outdoors galore
*Accommodates the fur babies ($35/per night, per pet fee)
* Please note that a valid ID from the primary guest and a signed rental agreement are required to finalize your reservation.
We allow pets but there is a $35/night per pet fee which we will request separately.
Please be aware that lawn maintenance & hot tub company may stop by unannounced during your stay to service the yard, pick up trash, and Hot tub.
If you’re planning to have an event during your stay, it’s important to get approval from us before booking. We’ll need to know the number of guests and cars, and there will be an additional event fee.

Check-in was great. The Castaway Cottage was just how it was listed. The back porch was the best part, it was big enough for the whole family to hang out. Unfortunately when we were there it was very hot and the ceiling fans on the porch did not work. Maintenance came to try and fix them but he could not. He even came back a second time to give us another remote control to try. It did not work either. He didn’t get it fixed but was very nice and was very prompt to come out and try and fix it. He even gave us ideas and directions to destinations we wanted to try out. The river was great, the cottage had plenty of canoes and inter tubes we could use. I wish there would have been a better way to enter the river. The cottage is new so maybe one day they can get a deck built you can enter into water from. We still found a way to get into the water. They had a hot tube but we did not use it. The lay out of the cabin was perfect with 4 bedrooms and each had their own bathroom. We loved the cottage and would definitely stay there again.

Perfect for our family of 7, get away ages 42-12 and 2 small dogs. Could have easily and comfortably fit more. The home was very clean and had everything we needed to make meals in the kitchen. It offers a keurig AND separate drip coffee maker. The bedding was super comfortable. The only downfalls for us - might not be for others - were the steps leading up to the home and the water right in front of the cottage. The steps leading up to the home were tall and steep. Made it hard to climb for our elderly dog. Also it is rocky in this location which cannot be changed by the owners, but important to note you cannot swim here. These issues will not stop us from coming back. We were able to take our kayaks to a public landing a few miles up on Shenandoah River road and took a couple hours to ride the river back to the cottage. very peaceful. Saved money after tubing at Outfitters the day before. Will definitely be back.

Our family of 4 came for 4 days to do some hiking and exploring in Shanendoah.The house is on the river, so peaceful and quiet. We LOVED the firepit. It was great for family time.
