The cabin itself was beautiful & decorated tastefully. However, We had a bad experience in getting to the cabin. We arrived at 6:15 at night after driving for 5 hours. We could not get up the gravel driveway (which was very, very steep) & was deeply rutted & washed out. We tried at least 6 times to make it in our Hyundai Sante Fe but could only make it halfway before sliding back down. I called Escape to Blue Ridge. I spoke to Tina who was very helpful after I explained situation. My husband & I are both 70 & could not walk up the driveway as I had hip replacement surgery recently & he had knee replacement surgery in April. Tina got a maintenance worker to come out to the cabin & transfer all of our baggage & groceries into his truck which made it up the driveway. My other guests (two sibling couples both in their 70s) were expected right behind us. My husband’s twin sister & her husband also could not make it up the driveway in a Nissan SUV. Luckily the maintenance man stayed &.transferred all of their luggage & groceries to his truck. The only couple who made it up the driveway had a 4 wheel drive pickup truck. Tina told us that she would get in touch with the property manager to have the driveway scraped. Workers showed up the next morning & scraped the driveway & we could finally drive our car up the driveway. The birthday weekend for my husband & his twin sister started off on a bad note but the rest of the weekend was fine.

Overall a great relaxing stay, just small things I may recommend! The windows in the bathrooms definitely need a shade since in the cooler months you can see straight to other cabins from those windows. The sun beams into the living room through the side windows by the tv so maybe some shades there, and a sun shade on the grill side of the porch would be awesome for day time outside by the fire! I know this is a dog friendly cabin but the under neath of the couch needs sweeping/vacuuming major. The drive way is HARD to get up unless you have 4WD or floor it(needs a good grading or pavement). And we had to pull some chairs from down stairs for seating by the fire because there is only seating for 4 but the occupancy is 6 so there wasn’t enough seating on the couch in living room or outside in the living/lounge area. Everything was clean and spotless except under the couch, loved my welcome gift as well! If I booked again I may go with the other cabins that is just like this one just without the bad drive way! Also loved the full body mirror in the upstairs bathroom!
