About this house rental

Enjoy our cozy home featuring 3 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms, ideal for families, groups, or anyone looking to experience the warmth and hospitality of McCall in a well-established and quiet neighborhood. Situated in the heart of McCall, our home is just a few minutes walk or bike ride to the lake, golfing, and downtown McCall for shopping, dining, and enjoying events. It is also an easy bike ride or walk to the trails, beaches, and other amenities of Ponderosa State Park.

McCall is a small (~3,600 people) community nestled in the northern Rockies, about 100 miles north of Boise. It is a haven for year-round recreational activities. Our community is centered around the crystal, clear waters of Payette Lake, which provides both motorized and non-motorized boating activities. There is a marina within walking distance of our house that rents boats. There are multiple public beaches within walking distance and two lap swimming areas in the lake as well during July and August. There are several public areas to put in a kayak or SUP. There is also a kayak/SUP rental place at the north end of the lake, where you can paddle up the quiet waters of the North Fork Payette River in search of wildlife or cool off in the clear, calm river on a hot summer day. The North Fork south of Payette Lake provides some paddling and fishing opportunities in late spring and early summer as well. Road bikers will find miles and miles of quiet country roads, passing through small communities and historic towns, like Roseberry, or can bike along Payette Lake, past Upper Payette Lake, and continue to Burgdorf Hot Springs. Your ride can start from our home. Mountain bikers have dozens of miles of bike trails both north (Bear Basin and Brundage) and south (Jug Mountain and Tamarack) of McCall, as well as many backcountry trails also suitable for mountain biking. Tamarack and Brundage both offer lift-assisted mountain biking. Using the Bear Basin connector trail from the west side of town, you can mountain bike from our house to the Payette Rim Trail, or connect up with the new Brundage-to-Bear Basin trail and ride to the top of Brundage. Or just ride down the street for a mile to Ponderosa State Park, which has a challenging 8-mile mountain bike loop. Hikers have the entire Payette National Forest to explore, with hikes along rushing rivers or to pristine alpine lakes for fishing, swimming, and relaxing. Depending on the elevation, wildflowers sprinkle the mountain sides even through August. Morel mushroom picking is available around mid-May through June, and huckleberries are available in the lower elevations starting in July. Several trailheads to the backcountry are just a 30 minute drive from McCall. Or just walk down to Ponderosa State Park for a hike boasting spectacular views of Payette Lake. Even on the busiest summer days, there are trails where you may be alone all day. In addition to Burgdorf, there are other hot springs not far away--both developed (for a fee), like Gold Fork and Zimm's, and several undeveloped, hike-to hot springs. The Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness is also just outside our door, and can be accessed by a 3-hour car ride or by plane from McCall's airport for a breakfast at the Big Creek Lodge. Winter is just as fabulous with some of Idaho's best snow. There are three local ski resorts that are easily accessible from our home--Brundage, Tamarack, and The Little Ski Hill (a small, local ski hill perfect for young kids and teenagers alike, and which has night skiing)--several nordic ski centers, and acres and acres of backcountry skiing and snowshoeing available. Ice fisherman will enjoy Payette Lake, as well as the one of the best ice fishing lakes in the state just 30 minutes away, Cascade Lake. McCall can be accessed from the Boise airport without a car by a Greyhound bus service that leaves Boise daily.
