PURGATORY SKI MOUNTAIN LOCATION: This condo is located at Purgatory Ski Resort in the San Juan Mountains. Purgatory is 25 minutes north of downtown Durango and is known as a family-friendly ski resort. It has 105 trails, including 5 terrain parks, over 1,500 skiable acres and 12 lift. The resort boasts an average annual snowfall of 260 inches. Purgatory Resort offers a variety of activities and amenities that cater to families, including ski lessons, childcare and a variety of restaurants. It is a more affordable option that some of the other ski resorts in Colorado, has a good mix of terrain for all ability levels, and stunning views. If you're looking for a resort that offers something for everyone, staying at this condo at Purgatory is a great option!
SUMMER AT PURGATORY: Purgatory boasts a bike park accessible by chair lift, an alpine slide, mountain coaster, and treasure panning. There are also hiking trails, jeep tours, and watercraft rentals on Twilight Lake. Purgatory hosts various events throughout the summer, such as live music concerts, festivals and bike races.
NO PETS: Due to HOA rules, the condo (and all condos in the building) is not pet friendly. Please do not bring your pets/emotional support animals.
COOLING: Please note that, like most properties in the area, this home does not have AC, as it is uncommon for homes at this elevation. Temperatures inside the property are easily managed by using fans and opening the windows at night when temperatures drop into the 40s.
Book at least a week and a 10% discount is automatically applied (Excludes Christmas/New Years). Stay with us and we offer DISCOUNTS on both summer (white water rafting, horseback riding etc.) and winter (ski/snowboard rentals, sleigh rides, snowmobile tours etc.) activities.

I can’t say enough about how great Cozy Bear Den was. Whoever designed the layout thought about everything. There is so much storage, everything you need in the kitchen, great appliances, quality fixtures, warm decor, multiple trays for wet boots. It is a full home. Our family of 4 slept so comfortably- wife and I in the master, our 9-year-old daughter loved the bunk bed, and our 12 year old son had the large fold out bed in the living room all to himself… and it is a very comfortable mattress, particularly for a fold out. We went to the hot tub every day, and were the only ones there every time. It’s a very short walk to the bottom of the ski lift, and we skied downhill pretty much back to the front door! We will be back to this one!

Great property- walking distance to ski lift. Very clean.
Just a few things that weren’t great- we are a family of 5 and planned to use the pull out sofa for a bed. It was a good size with a comfortable mattress but no bedding! We texted the property manager and they said they would contact cleaning staff but we never heard back from them. We ended up stripping a blanket off the king bed but then we were cold that night. Bedding and a few extra blankets would have been wonderful.
We walked to the hot tub, went out in the cold to get in and the code didn’t work, texted the property manager and didn’t hear back for a bit. Walked back to room, then got a response which was not convenient. The bunk beds are two tiny beds in the master closet. They are crib size mattresses. If you have kids older than 10/11 they will not fit. The description should be clear on those beds.
We made the best of these small inconveniences and still enjoyed our stay.
