About this cottage rental
This Sparrow Pond cottage is pet friendly and has a king and 2 queen beds and is a relaxing choice for families that don't want to have adults sleep in twin beds. This cottage is one of the only Sparrow Pond cottages with 3 full bathrooms. Two are en suite and the 3rd off the living room.
There is a gas grill under the house along with a picnic table. We also love napping or reading a book in the glass sunroom. The cottage has free wifi.
Conveniently located in West Beach Village, this cottage is only a 5-minute walk to Kiawah's beautiful beach and community pool. Also a few minutes’ walk to the gorgeous new Cougar Point Golf club house where you can golf, eat breakfast, lunch, have dinner, or get a drink at the sports pub. It is open to the public and fully accessible whether you are golfing or not.
Community Pool!
This cottage allows you access to our community pool - just a short walk away. Pools are limited on Kiawah Island and are often restricted to guests staying through Kiawah Resort. Sparrow Pond Cottages are one of the few places on Kiawah that you can rent directly from the owner with access to a pool. Our community pool is perfect for a cool dip after playing at the beach.
Freshfields Village is just an 8 minute drive or 25 minute bike ride offering many great shopping and eating venues along with great free outdoor concerts and other festivities for all.
Bohicket marina, just a few yards beyond Freshfields, offers even more great eating establishments and great views.
There are so many things to do on Kiawah once you’ve had your time on the beach. Enjoy miles of bike paths that transverse the entire island through coastal forests and marshes but be sure to stop at one of the two Kiawah River observation towers which you can find on any Kiawah map.
We highly recommend a trip to the world famous Ocean Course either for golfing or a drink at sunset on the pub-side porch. The view of the ocean and dunes is the best on the East Coast!

Wonderful cottage! Pet-friendly and about a 5 minute walk to boardwalk 1 beach access. Easy to get on and off the island being at the very front. Biking to Freshfields was about 15-20 minutes. It was great having a washer and dryer. Covered parking under the house was another nice perk! Overall, a great stay, and we would recommend and stay again.

We really enjoyed our stay! The cottage was very comfortable and in a great location. Check in and check out was super easy which reduced our stress after traveling. We had all of the amenities needed. We’d definitely stay again!

Overall, this property met our needs but fell a bit short of expectations. The positives included the short walk to the pool and beach, plenty of space, a bonus beverage fridge in the sunroom, pet-friendly accommodations, excellent water pressure and hot water, a cozy setting among the pines and palms, smooth check-in, comfortable mattresses and pillows, and a very responsive owner.There were, however, a few drawbacks. While we expected some pet hair in a pet-friendly rental, we found a significant amount of black dog hair on the floors, baseboards, and even in the bed sheets. Palmetto bugs were more prevalent than we anticipated, despite understanding they are common in the South. The HVAC also struggled to keep up with the July heat, with indoor temperatures reaching as high as 79F on some afternoons, though the ceiling fans helped. Additionally, the washer or dryer left small black streaks on several synthetic clothing items, while cotton fabrics were unaffected.With some basic maintenance—fresh paint, drywall repairs, securing loose outlet covers, and replacing burned-out light bulbs—this property could be an excellent rental. It has tremendous potential with a modest investment from the owner. After I contacted the owner about the issues we experienced, he offered to replace the HVAC air filter and have an exterminator treat the property. He also acknowledged our concerns about the damaged clothing but did not offer compensation for the damaged items.
