Residence Il Palazzo_Casa Siena

We very much enjoyed our stay - the huge, well-maintained pool was the highlight, with plenty of space, chairs, sun loungers and umbrellas for everyone, and we also made good use of the table tennis table. Although the overall property is able to accommodate a surprisingly high number of people, it didn't feel over-crowded. Emmanuela and Fabrizio were relaxed and friendly hosts, on hand to help but not intrusive, and they gave us a bottle of their own-made wine as a welcome present. For five stars it would be nice to have an outdoor eating space for exclusive use for each villa, rather than a shared verandah, and also better lighting and equipment in the kitchen (eg. there was just a small countertop combi oven, rather than a full oven, and one shared washing machine for the whole property).

Satnav got us a bit lost on the way in - the Sgaravatti factory is a good landmark, be sure to turn left immediately after it. But once we knew where it was it turned out to be in quite a convenient location for getting onto main routes and visiting various nearby restaurants/towns (for eating there's a trattoria just down the road that was lovely and friendly, Martini by the DPiu supermarket on the roundabout into Montevarchi was cheap and did good pizza; supermarket-wise, the Coop Fi in Montevarchi is much bigger and better than in Levane). Rooms were large, outdoor table in the shade was nice for breakfast, and there was plenty of outdoor space for 1 year old to toddle, with the highlight being the nice cool pool, which was a nice size as well as having a shallow section perfect for kids. The one negative was the lack of supplies in the apartment - we had to buy a coffee pot (there wasn't even a kettle), tea towel and washing up sponge, as well as disposables like hand soap, kitchen roll and bin bags. Suffice to say we've left it better supplied than we found it. Overall I would go back, and would particularly recommend this apartment to families with multiple children - the second room had beds on 3 levels that I'm sure they'd love, and with the pool, grounds and activities (ping pong table and volleyball net) there's plenty to keep them busy.

Our stay was lovely. The flat is shaded and comfortable and perfect for exploring the region. The pool is big and I mean big. Big enough to do laps and was a treat at the end of a hot day. There are a couple of supermarkets nearby and good pizza in Levane. The owners are helpful and responsive and make terrific red wine!

I had a lovely stay at Il Palazzo La Spiga! Emanuela was very sweet and helpful during out stay. The property is exactly as it looks in the pictures with a HUGE pool and plenty of clean living space in our portion of the house. The residence is a little bit "off the beaten path" which made it perfect for us to get away and relax, however the town of Levane is only five minutes away and has several restaurants, a few bars and a fairly large Co-op for grocery shopping. Additionally we were only about 25-30 minutes away from wine tasting in the Chianti Classico region. Wi-Fi was available and generally worked well if needed. Overall this was a perfect place that I would recommend to get away and relax in beautiful Tuscany!
