Frankly, the property gives a “beach” or “dorm room” vibe. The VRBO seems to be a flipped property by someone who was doing construction for the very first time. And learning along the way. And not learning well. The construction was rough. Almost all the floor tiles were loose, cleanliness was not good (moved the loveseat cushion to find tons of food), and all the furniture was very heavily stained. Ick.The bed was a bottom line wire contraption with a mattress that hardly was adequate for sleep. The vent fan in the bathroom was caked with dust and dirt and barely functioned. The commode was not properly attached to the floor and wobbled. The ceiling showed evidence of leaks throughout. The front door electronic lock fitted into a jam that was barely there and could easily be pushed open. The host provided one washcloth and one small towel for the stay and no soap. The kitchenette was hardly adequate and the small dorm fridge was undersized for the property. The toaster seemed to not have been cleaned ever. The kitchen counter was not attached and would tip if not careful. The property was not ready at check-in as the cleaning crew still had laundry in the machines for which they asked to come back later to retrieve. At the same time, the location was awesome and in a very safe part of town. All in all, the stay was barely tolerable only because I was in town last minute for business. The owners must put more effort with pro repairs and it will rock

This was not a peaceful stay at all. The place would have been great IF the renter had of informed the upstairs renters that someone was coming, to leave them alone, and show some respect. They came up to my husband as soon as he arrived and gave him 20 questions. They stomped around until midnight and turn the heat off

It did the job for me at $100 a night less than the hotel that my seminars were. It is a very old house so don't expect perfection. It was clean and that is what mattered to me.

For the price, this was a pretty good place, but there are some “oddities”, one might say. If you are over 5’8”, odds are you are going to hit your head on the low crossbeam bisecting the apartment. If there was a closet for hanging clothes, I didn’t find it. And the TV/WiFi situation is less than ideal, to say the least—if you need stable internet for work or streaming, this may not be the best fit until some updates are made. And it does get pretty cold down there; the (very cool) electric fireplace warmed up the room considerably, but I didn’t feel comfortable leaving it on all night, so relying just on the heater meant I woke up to an internal temp of 64. It was like 35 outside, so it could have been worse!
The shower has no curtain/door, so depending on who you’re staying with, that could be a concern. There was a rag tied around the shower fixture seemingly with the intent of stopping a leak, but water was still pouring out pretty steadily (but only while the shower is running).
Oh, and the entrance (back of the property down some very uneven steps) is completely unlit, so if you’re getting in at night, bring a flashlight! Despite all this stuff, I’d say it was a fair value for me, but I do have a nice lump on my head ;)

Very clean for being in the basement. Great for the price we got it at! Felt very safe in it's location within a beautiful neighborhood with sidewalks. Walked to the market apx 15 min walk there. There were a TON of LOUD cicadas which was a little eek but I believe that only happens every 17 years? Would of been nice to have a wall separating unit stays instead of just a door. Wasn't sure if someone could come down stairs from the upstairs that wasn't part of our rental. over all though we had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend this place to others. Will definitely be coming back to stay here to visit family in the area again!
