Sarah is a lovely host. We had a hiccup on the day of our arrival (before our arrival) with a potential issue that would have compromised our stay. Sarah contacted us, was up front with the potential issue, had already contacted a contractor, and had already looked to see if alternative accommodation was available to us. She even offered to have us wait in the house to see if the issue could be fixed. Ultimately, the issue was a non-issue and we were able to stay in the house! She allowed us an early check in. The house itself is so quaint and is pretty much exactly as described. It has a lovely historical charm (though that does mean some things that go along with an older house, such as short showers). We had everything we needed and there were some lovely "add-ins" such as the face masks in the main bathroom! The location of the house is excellent. It's close to downtown and close to all of the destinations we visited. I wish the weather was warmer so that we could enjoy the beautiful porch. We appreciate Sarah's excellent communication and kindness and we enjoyed a restful getaway at the Old Homestead!

This was our second stay at the Old Homestead. We love its country feel and the very well equipped kitchen. Sarah seems to have thought of everything!

We had a lovely visit to the area and this property was close by.

This is a beautiful property located in a lovely quiet area. I mostly enjoyed my stay while in the property. However, the listing does not indicate the fact that two of the three bedrooms are only connected to the hallway by one door. This may be awkward for some guest configurations as the person or people staying in the inner bedroom will have to cross through the other bedroom to access the landing and bathroom in the middle of the night. This was not a problem for us during our stay but would’ve best been indicated in the listing.Unfortunately, the check-out expectations are not clear and the amount of cleaning expected that are not in writing upon booking seem excessive when paying a cleaning fee plus a pet fee which is listed by VRBO as additional cleaning for pet issues.
