Forest Dunes 1201 is a Myrtle Beach area vacation rental located along a beautiful stretch of beachfront. The resort itself is actually across the street from the beach but your view is as good as oceanfront because there is not any development on the beachside. Cross Ocean Boulevard to reach the sandy pathway that leads to the beach and the Atlantic Ocean. THE GREAT -
1. A homey, lived-in condo. Beds comfortable, three toilets, spacious layout. Very comfortable. Housekeeping had done an excellent job cleaning the interior portion of the unit and having it be ready for vacationers.
2. Every conceivable kitchen gadget /appliance available.
3. A great location, with close access to the beach.
4. One of the best views of a beach we have ever experienced.
5.. A top of the line en-suite electric piano that lent itself to wonderful bits of playing by one of our children.
6. Condo building is well maintained with recent visible and impressive updates. Common areas were always clean. Three pools and hot tub all functioning, clean and well-maintained.
IMPROVEMENTS -
1. Comfortable but with a lot of owner-specific items that left a feeling of clutteredness. Many/much had to be moved gently to allow for suitcases/other traveling necessities to be stored. 2. Zero available cabinet space for groceries due the proliferation of dishware, kitchen gadgets and small appliances.
3. Cutlery had to be augmented with separate purchases due to its fragile and aged condition.
4. Spice cabinet apparently had not been opened/cleaned for some time, as there were cobwebs upon our first opening it.
5. Furniture was not the same as pictured, and was in poor state of repair.
6. Outside balcony was in poor state of cleanliness, with plants all dying or dead and tchotchke- filled tables covered with sand and dust.
7. Limited check-in assistance, no directions on where/how to dispose of trash. Took four calls to both management companies before disposal facilities could be identified.
The necessary improvements - minor (except for the furniture condition) in the grand scheme - would have made this stay a clear 5-star plus experience. As it was, a 3-star rating is appropriate.
