About this house rental
"Happiness Comes in Waves" is the perfect spot for an island getaway! It's just steps from the beach, but is a secluded setting that backs up to the Davis Canal tidal marsh with a private pier that you can drop a line in the water or a crab trap (one of only two private piers in the area). The property is fourth row back and a quick 2-minute walk to the beach with easy access. Relax on the front deck and fall asleep listening to sounds of the ocean!
This property boasts 3 bedrooms and 1 1/2 baths plus an additional outdoor shower with hot/cold water for use during the summer months. The kitchen was recently completely renovated, with ample cabinet storage space and is well equipped (pots, pans, blender, electric griddle, toaster oven, coffee maker (standard and Keurig), hand mixer, crockpot, etc) to meet all of your cooking needs.
The inside dining table has four chairs, plus we have two folding chairs, plastic deck chairs, and out on the deck is a wrought-iron table with four chairs.
Bedroom 1 has a king bed. Bedroom 2 includes two sets of bunk beds (the top bunks are only for children). Bedroom 3 has a queen bed.
Linens are NOT provided but the property does include pillows, blankets, and comforters/quilts for all beds and the sofa sleeper. You can bring your own sheets and towels, or rent them from Sharon's Linens on Oak Island (if you do this, we've heard that Sharon's can be sold out in peak season, so contact them early).
All bedrooms and the living room have ceiling fans. The ceiling fan/light in the living room is operated by remote control.
The property includes a Roku TV and high-speed Internet access and WiFi.
This is a pet friendly property with a maximum of 2 pets allowed (dogs only, owner is allergic to cats). Dogs must weigh under 100 lbs and there is a non-refundable pet fee of $120. Owners must clean up the yard after their pets! Please clean furniture is there is an abundant amount of hair as well.
There's a wagon to haul your gear over to the beach and usually several beach chairs. And there's a hose available to wash all those things down when you come back from the beach.
An ice shack is two blocks away to fill your cooler. It's next door to a convenience store for anything you might've forgotten.
A washer/dryer is in the half-bath.

The house was very convenient ,very short walk to the beach .all updates to the home were very cozy .just needs a bit more grass for dogs to do there pottyin!overall great house ! we have an old English puppy almost a year old he loved the Beach !

The beds were comfortable and there were lots of pillows and blankets. There were exactly 5 plastic hangers provided for a house that sleeps 8, which isn't practical. The rough rocks on the driveway are very hard on a dog's paws and this is listed as a pet friendly rental. The air conditioning was cold, which was great. The indoor shower is also nice. In general, the house is run down and needs repairs/maintenance--the deck and the stairs especially. The beach chairs that were provided were all broken or so rusty that they wouldn't open. The only beach shovel was missing 1/2 of the shovel. The 1 boogie board was ok, but the house sleeps 8. The vacuum cleaner smelled really bad and barely worked at all.

Location of the property is perfect, only a short walk to the beach. Pet friendly home is definitely a much appreciated bonus! The downside to being pet friendly is the horrible crushed rock yard. Definitely can't walk without shoes and still not pleasant. Plenty of sleeping space although we only used the king bed. Unfortunately it takes up most of the room so not enough space left for luggage and bags, but easily resolved by utilizing the queen room for our luggage. Sadly, cleanliness was not top notch. Bathroom had lots of hairs on toilet, tub, shower liner. The tub was clogged and slow draining. We unclogged with draino and several pots of boiling water. Lightbulb out above sink. Toilet would kick on and run short spurts appx every 10-15 min or so. Kitchen well stocked with the necessities. Unfortunately, coffee spilled down cabinet doors, along with other stuck on debri on cabinets and front of stove. Also, found a knife wedged between stove and cabinet. We initially was disappointed to not have internet service and Roku, but discovered the loveseat had been pushed into the outlet where the internet box is plugged in and the plugs had been disconnected. Which could be a fire hazard. Would have loved to be able open the windows for fresh ocean air, but unfortunately there were no screens on the windows. Once connected internet and Roku worked flawlessly. Overall we enjoyed our stay despite the unfortunates and would consider renting again to give it a second chance.
