Do you want to build a snowman? You can, right outside the house! Make a snow angel, have a snowball fight!! Close to Rocky Mountain National Park Sled Hill, great places to snowshoe and cross-country ski. The custom Shuffleboard table in the cabin provides hours of fun for everyone! Eldora Ski Mountain is less than an hour away. There are Fly-Fishing drop-in spots scattered all beside the roads and right out the cabin door in The Horse Creek. There are a ton of fun things to do in Estes Park, www.vistestespark.com has most of the contacts that you will need. If you are coming thru Lyons, there is a grocery call St. Vrain Market, that has lots of essentials and goodies. There is a Safeway in Estes. We like to go through the Rocky Mountain National Park to look at the wildlife, you should see elk, possibly bears, mule deer, Chipmunks at Rainbow Curve!! We are always on the lookout for a moose. We start our kids out fishing at Trout Haven, Estes Park where they supply poles and the bait, you catch trout, they will filet them and you can take them home! There are go kart tacks, mini golf, regular golf, rock wall climbing, food trucks in town. We like to fly fish and raft in the Big Thompson River and we call, Kirk's Fly Shop, to set up Guided Fly Fishing, Float Trips, Horseback/Fishing, Llama Pack Trips and Backpacking. Estes Park is about a 15 minute drive down the mountain from the cabin and has a Safeway Grocery Store and tons of good places to eat. The Stanley Hotel for dinners and their Spa. Lots of great shops in Estes, Taffy, Art and Jewelry, Ute Native American inspired shops. You will pass Charles Eagleplume's Shop on the way to town on your right and Saint Malo's Cathedral on your left, both national treasures, in my opinion. The church has been the subject of many paintings and photographs over the years. I am always in awe of the structure seemingly rising out of the rocks and could look at it for hours. I cannot describe Eagleplume's, you just have to go in and you should read Ann Strange Owl's Biography.
It is a 15-minute drive to Estes Park, 25 minutes to Lyons and 40 minutes to Boulder/Longmont. Check out Boulder right down the road for a fun filled or you can stay home and hike the trails right out the back door for days! See breathtaking horizons. Many animals have been seen from the cabin, near the creek in front of the house and coming up and down the mountain on the side of the house. There are many wonderful coffee drinking spots throughout the home and many fun dinners have been had! Tahosa Ranch is ready to welcome and accommodate you and yours!
