About this cottage rental
The Cottage is located in historic East Poultney, Vermont, beside the former Poultney schoolhouse, now home to the local historical society. Guests can also relax and unwind in the private hot tub located on the property, perfect after a day of hiking, biking, skiing, or exploring the area.
Surrounded by the beautiful Slate Valley hiking and biking trail system, the area offers the perfect blend of outdoor adventure and small-town charm. The village of Poultney is just one mile away and features restaurants, shops, stores, and a local pub. A sidewalk begins directly in front of the cottage and leads all the way into town, making it ideal for walking, jogging, or biking.
Outdoor enthusiasts will appreciate being less than an hour from Pico, Killington, and Bromley Mountains, while Lake St. Catherine is only 3 miles away and Lake Bomoseen is under 10 miles from the property.
The Cottage itself was originally built in 1910 as a “Mother-in-Law” home. Though cozy in size, this charming two bedroom house is warm, comfortable, and full of character. The shower is beautifully crafted from locally sourced Vermont slate. Guests will enjoy all the comforts of home, including linens, kitchen essentials for preparing meals, strong WiFi, and cable TV with Roku.
Guests have full access to the entire home, along with both the front and back yards.

• The Poultney River, located less than a mile away, offers excellent swimming spots. Feel free to ask about access if interested.

We very much enjoyed our stay at the cottage. There are some very good restaurants nearby and it is close to the Castleton campus. We also enjoyed some snowshoeing and mountain biking at Slate Valley Trails.

A very cute, small ranch home located across from the East Poultney Village Green! Spent 5 nights in October 2025. The Host, Nate, was great to deal with, was easy to communicate with, and the check-in process was seamless! Very clean, well-stocked, large bathroom with a large walk-in tiled shower! A great location for us to visit family and friends. Very, very quiet at night, which was wonderful! A very cozy place to stay! Thanks, Nate!

My in-laws were in town for a week and this was the perfect place for them. Easily accessible entrance and bathroom. The house is clean and very comfortable. They had a great time. Thank you!
