About this cottage rental
Start your morning with a fresh cup of coffee while watching the sunrise over the lake. Less than 1 hour from NYC, enjoy your staycation in this updated cottage in a peaceful lake community. Relax on the patio while enjoying the tranquility of nature and creating wonderful memories. Less than 5 minute drive to swimming, watersports, boating, farms, wineries, and lots of great restaurants & bars. Less than 10 mins to Hopatcong State Park, 10 mins from Rockaway Mall, and 30 mins to Mountain Creek.
The cottage presents a bright & airy feel. There are 2 bedrooms. The master bedroom sleeps 2 with a king bed and a Smart TV. The second bedroom, sleeps 1-2, with a twin trundle bed that turns into a king. If you are in need of a crib or highchair, please let me know and I will have it setup upon arrival.
The living room has a sofa that turns into a king size bed with a 50" Smart TV. We offer Netflix to all our guests, feel free to log into your own accounts for other streaming services. The kitchen is fully stocked with kitchen tools & essentials. As a chef myself, I wanted to make sure one has the tools to make anything they want to. If there is something specific you are looking for please ask me to confirm.
We are located within minutes of lake activities for you to enjoy. There is a marina across the street where you can rent a boat or launch your own. We are 5 minutes away from Lee's Marina, another park where you can launch your boat for a daily fee. The best place to swim is at Mt Arlington Beach or Hopatcong State Park. Please check out my guidebook for more marina & swimming locations in the area.
There is no street parking. We have 2 parking spaces with a 2 car max.

Guests have use of the entire cottage except for the basement and attic, which are locked. You have full access to the backyard/patio. Smoking is not permitted in the cottage. You can smoke outside in the backyard/patio.

Peaceful lake community with many activities to enjoy around the lake. The cottage is located on a very private block, so we ask you respect our neighbors. We have a no party policy and quiet hours after 10PM.
We are across the street from a marina, where you can rent a boat for the day. Have your own boat? No worries! You can launch from the marina (for a few). In less than 5 minutes you will be near great dining, farms & wineries, watersports, mini golf, and more!
It is best if you have a car to get around town. However, the nearest NJ Transit station is 7 minutes away by car. Trains come directly from NY & Newark Penn Stations. You can use Uber & Lyft to get around if you do not have a car, but best to schedule/order a ride ~15-20 minutes ahead of time as they can take a while since we are in a very mountainous area.
San Bar Cottage is a small piece of serenity and peace by the largest lake in NJ. The lake is my happy place and I am delighted to share all the beauty this area has to offer with you.

Great stay! The place was clean, comfortable, and exactly as described. Jenna was a wonderful host—very responsive and helpful. Everything was smooth and stress-free. Would definitely stay again!

A very welcoming cottage! When we walked in, there was a welcome sign with our name in addition to snacks. The refrigerator was stocked with both water and creamers for coffee, and there was coffee and tea, both available, which matters a lot to us! The accommodations were very bright and modern and clean. We loved sitting outside with our coffee in the morning. and we were grateful for the distraction of games for the younger ones. Would definitely stay here again.

I went up here for an extended weekend, for the sole purpose of decompressing from work. Since this was the off-season the weather wasn't exactly the greatest, so I mostly stayed in, only venturing out for basic items when needed. With that being said, I quickly began to notice issues.1st, the indoor gas fireplace does not work! Not only does it not work, but apparently it hasn't worked since 2023. In the "welcome book" on the table, it's said that this is due to it being a fire hazard. The clearance of surrounding items seemed to be in compliance, and the remote worked just fine (though the fireplace display didn't turn on), so that leads me to believe that it's either the unit itself or something is wrong with the gas lines. This should not be on the listing if it doesn't work; it's simply a cosmetic feature. 2nd, the framing under the bathtub felt "spongy" and bouncy, almost like I'd fall through at some point. 3rd, the TV in the living room didn't work at all. Even if it did, there's no place to watch it without moving furniture or straining your neck. 4th, the pillows have no support at all. I had to use all 7 pillows just to get slightly comfortable. Plus the bedroom TV is another neck-strainer. Due to the character limit, I can't keep going, but there were many more issues. Would not stay here again.
