Robert was the most accommodating and gracious host. The gite was the epitome of French Provencal charm. For 10 days we were able to visit lovely villages, chateaux, sites and more selecting a different one every day. Having true AC was a wonderful bonus with the level of heat during our stay. Bravo! We hope to return sooner than later!

Great place to relax, far from all the tourists and crowds. Easily accessible and if you want you can visit the beautiful towns and villages of the Provence. The owner is very discreet, helpful and hospitable. The gite is complete, we lacked nothing. The terrace under a grape bush offers coolness in the warm afternoon hours. We recommend everyone to spend a period here and will come back for sure.

    M. Duclos could not have been a better host. We arrived late on a Saturday after all shops had closed and M. Duclos had very kindly bought us milk, bread, butter, home-made marmalade and had made us a wonderful tasting caserole dish and got us a bottle of wine. The gite was perfect, clean and exactly as shown in the photos. We are quite homely so it was great to be able to prepare and cook our own meals with produce bought from local markets. I cannot speak highly enough about M. Duclos as owner or the gite itself. There was so much to do in the area - our longest drive was to Aix-en-Provence but that was only about an hour away. We were only there for a week and there was more than we could have done, markets, old towns, nature - we loved Les Baux de Provence and the parc ornothologique. We didn't even mind the Mistral. The only downside were the mosquitoes - this was absolutely our own fault and no reflection on the gite, M. Duclos or the beauty of the region. We had naively thought we would be too far north from the Camargue to be bothered by mosquitoes - bear in mind the time of year you go and take the strongest prevention and after bite creams. It did mean we could not take full advantage of the beautiful outside area in the evening - but as I say it was our own fault and we were way underprepared. But - they did not spoil our stay. You could not ask for a lovelier gite or more considerate host than M. Duclos.

We rented this house for almost a month in August 2017 and also in August 2015. We came back by popular demand!! We are a family of 5 and my children really enjoyed that house and kept asking to go back (they still do!). The house is very well located, close to Avignon, Arles, Les Baux, etc. The car drive is about 20-30 minutes to most major touristic sites. My children enjoyed horseback riding lessons just a few minutes away and we enjoyed going to le marche d'Arles every Saturday morning. We are coming from the city and we enjoy the calm offered by this house. The property is very beautifully renovated and surrounded by a nice garden. We enjoyed cooking on "la plancha" available there, eating outside under the vineyard and relaxing on the long chairs outside. M. Robert is an excellent host, very warm and always ready to share insider information on what to do and see! Most of the information needed (programs, maps, etc.) is available at the house as M. Robert keeps his brochures updated for the guests comfort. We love the site, the house and M. Robert and we will certainly go back! Nathalie and Fernando

Charming cottage, well-appointed, clean, and in a good location (as others have noted). Robert is a gracious host trying to ensure all needs are met. Robert was willing to arrange for an extra bed for our third child. We all fit comfortably and would have been very pleased to stay much longer. We could imagine how beautiful and pleasant it would be to relax here on the patio in warmer months, or share a little badminton or bowls. Incidentally, we've been to many castles over the years, and found the one in Tarascon not the most polished or stunning, etc. but probably the best representation of what castles would have been like in the Middle Ages - well-preserved, with good guides, and interesting graffiti carved in the walls by prisoners in later ages.

Our first real trip overseas. Half way through our month in France we stayed for a relaxing week at Robert's beautifully restored cottage. It's as lovely as the photos show. I'd like to call this my home away from home and even stay there again as it is the perfect away-from-the-madding-crowd little spot to use as a base for investigating awesome Provence. We needed a car to get around, but we did bike into Tarascon one day along the back roads and checked out the amazing Tarascon Castle and it was fun riding through the narrow town lanes. We used the car to visit Arles (the market is great), the Camargue, Le Baux, Glanum, Avignon. Having a car lets you get away from the crowds and see how beautiful the real France is. There are more wonderful places to visit but a week was not enough. Perhaps the most enjoyable was the Pont du Gard early evening. We walked further on following the ruins of the aqueduct for an hour or so. We created our own meals at the cottage. There are some good supermarchés in Saint Rémy and on the way to Arles. The locals seem very friendly... lots of smiles. Awesome produce and wine. Robert is very friendly and even though my French is minimal we got on fine. Lovely rural cottage and highly recommended. Thanks Robert!

Congratulations to Robert for creating a superb experience here! Upon arrival and meeting the charming Robert, we were given a short tour and introduction to the beautifully presented cottage, and a welcoming basket of fruit and vegetables from the garden was a great touch. The tomatoes in particular were fabulous, tasting like tomatoes should! We spent a fabulous week here exploring Provence and bringing home amazing food from a market each day to prepare in the well appointed kitchen. The cottage is very peaceful, a very important feature from our point of view, as we live on a quiet farm in Australia and love our peace and quiet. The friendliness and generosity of our host and also our neighbours was wonderful. Within a couple of hours of our arrival I had met a pair of fellows whilst out walking who were out shooting pigeon - despite my non existant French, and their lack of English, they had enthusiastically offered me pigeon for my dinner within moments! The cottage is very well placed for exploring Provence, and we did plenty of that! I wish we could have stayed another week in this wondrous area, but that was not to be. I would have no reservations at all in recommending this property as a great base for exporing the region. As a couple, we had ample room, but a small family would be just as comfortable. Wireless internet made all the difference for our research of things to see and do in the region. The local supermarket is only minutes away and has far more than just the essentials. I also highly recommend visiting the restaurant "MEO" in Tarascon for a fabulous cullinary experience. We would not hesitate to book this cottage again, and congratulate Robert on his presentation and attention to detail.

We owe our completely expectation-fulfilled, relaxing 1st family holiday with our 21month old daughter to Robert and his picturesque and calm cottage,"Mas Boer" As chance would have it, we enjoyed 1 beautiful warm day before the notorious and very cold Mistral visited with us, winds topping 60kms/hour and even more in the surrounding Alpilles. The gorgeous clear skies and sunshine did help to compensate though. Very cold outside, nice warm and cosy inside our cottage. Why was it so good? - We needed a separate bedroom for our toddler to sleep in, the 2 bedrooms, toilet and shower upstairs made this perfect for us as we could put her down to sleep and not disturb her in the evenings before we ourselves went to bed. - Newly renovated stone cottage was in a very quiet and rural location, sheep, goats, horses and some cattle across the road. Very calm, very tranquil excellent for taking our toddler out for a walk and seeing the animals. - Cosy dining room with long wooden table, fully equipped kitchen plus toilet & laundry downstairs. - Perfectly situation near the local road between Tarascon and Arles which made exploring the Alpilles and small villages and towns around them very enjoyable and easy! Easy access to Arles, Avignon and Aix-en-Provence! - Robert was a perfect host, there when we needed him for help and advice but never seen. He made excellent suggestions and gave us great tips for the regions. Recommendations. - Don't let the surrounds on the drive in passed Tarascon put you off, you wont be disappointed - Do take your time to visit the villages dotted around, you will be pleasantly surprised eg. we had an awesome lunch at Cafe de la Fontaine in Maussane-les-Alpilles - Do get out and have croissant and coffee in Beaucaire alongside the boats moored on the canal by Quai du General de Gaulle. Getting there tip. Despite the other reviews here, finding it and getting there was easy! Just go to the end of Chemin de la Chevaliere, Tarascon, when the asphalt turns into dirt track (not before!) take the 1st entrance (also the last on your right!) is the one you want! The dirt track is "Draille de la Chevaliere" The cottage is behind the lovely tall tree. Thank you Robert for your hospitality and making our stay memorable! We will see you again soon.
