We stopped in Scario on the way to Amalfi from Sicily. It was in the perfect spot to stop along the way and a beautiful quiet retreat after being on the beach in Mondello for a week. The owners were very easy to deal with and very understanding of our long drive to get there and our lateness. The drive into the location is a little confusing in the dark. Thankfully the owners provided us with map coordinates which we could use to navigate, The apartment is off the main road by about 800 meters with not a lot of signage. Once you do get there, you will find a beautiful country space with a gorgeous green view. Mauro and his brother were there to greet us and show us the space. The apartment is compact but has all the basic in a newly renovated space. Rooms are clean and tidy with air conditioning. Loft space is probably lovely most of the year but it was a heat wave when we arrived so it was very warm up there. Lovely patio facing the green valley and water in the distance. There is a lovely back terrace filled with tropical foliage and a ping pong table as well. The owners recommended a nice local restaurant serving very good food with very reasonable prices called Trattoria la Rustica in the next town over (3km). Great seafood and service. In the morning we went into Scario and had a very inexpensive but tasty lunch on the beach. Scario doesn't have the perfect beach but it has a lot of heart and very genuine people. We really enjoyed our stay, great place to relax and appreciate the beauty of Campania. Thanks Mauro!

Three big positives 1. Mauro as the host is charming and helpful. Apart from being very welcoming and informative he also helped us enormously when we had an issue with our car. He took us to a mechanic he knew and waited with us until it was sorted. Above and beyond! 2 The apartment is very comfortable with a good sofa and pleasant inside space. It was very clean and modern. The views from the terrace across the bay are stunning - you can see the statue of the Christ redeemer in maratea and the mountains behind. It is in a quiet area just outside scario so you need to drive. And be warned it is an unmade road which is not signposted so satnav or google is a big help to find it. But then it is peaceful 3. Scario is a lovely little town with many good restaurants on the front and views across the bay. It is surrounded by mountains and the whole area feels like an oasis of calm. Basically we will be back.

Of our 5 week trip to Italy this was the place with the most accommodating hosts. Even though we arrived very late Ciro came up and helped us with our bags and got us settled in. The place was clean and comfortable with a spectacular view. It was off season when we were there so it was quiet. You don't really come to this part of Campagnia for a "scene". We took a spectacular drive down to Maratea. Ciro and Lucia were lovely and gracious and we enjoyed coffee with them.
