The above is the link to a video of my house.
Makai Hideaway is quiet and peaceful. Unwind and relax from city life. House is an an hour south of Kona and one hour ten minutes south of the Kona airport. It is one hour ten minutes to volcano from the house. Shop before you come as nearest grocery store is 25 minutes away. Two bedroom with multiple beds, three baths, We are in a lovely location with outstanding ocean views and nearby water sports! Descend a paved road 12 minutes to the house from mile marker 89 and enjoy what I believe are the best views on the island!. A large Lanai runs the length of the house for dolphin and whale watching. Have dinner on a beautiful 600 foot Lanai and watch the incredible sunsets and enjoy coastal breezes. There are many fans in the house but there isn't air conditioning. Go one and half blocks to water access for swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, scuba diving and fishing. Also,it's great to walk around the neighborhood. Bedwise, there is a king bed in the master and one queen beds in the house and one queen sleeper sofa plus a futon. There is a foldout mattress plus an airbed mattress in the toy closet. Also, there is an ocean view from the kitchen and you can sit on the couch and see the ocean. Sunsets are phenomenal and different every night. There is a barbecue on top deck. There's a king bed in the upstairs master! There is a washer and dryer in the gameroom and extra small fridge by the tiki bar. the nearest grocery store is 25 minutes away so many travelers stop at Costco as it is by the Kona airport on the way down. There is a supermarket at mile marker 77 and gas station, too.House is a good hour ten south of airport at mile marker 89. The views of the Pacific ocean are sensational and I never get tried of seeing as I descend from 1200 feet to sea level. Please conserve on water and electricity as Hawaii has the nations top rates. There's a nice ocean breeze often at the house but there isn't AC at the house nor do most homeowners in Hawaii have it. We saw a turtle the size of a volkswagon off one of the cliffs in the area and the snorkeling at the swimming hole is great! The swimming hole is a two minute walk away- go to Kai street and turn right. This is where you put in the kayaks or take them into the village of Milolii. There is internet and Netflix so the TV is great! My favorite thing is reading a book on the chaise lounge on the deck or going down to the swimming hole to swim and snorkel. Downstairs in the outside closet is everything you would ever need- coolers, beach mats, beach toys, snorkeling masks and equipment, life jackets,, chairs. Please rinse off anything outside you borrow and put back in the toy shed. Boogie boards and other toys are in outside toy closet. Please keep orderly..

The Milolii area is famous for deep sea fishing, and you can watch the fishing boats or go out yourself. The beautiful secluded Honomolino Beach is close by-short walk along the coast from Milolii State Park-watch the spinner dolphins, snorkel with the fish in the coral, and maybe see a sea turtle or a rare Hawaiian monk seal. There are fishermen phone numbers in the guest guide on the desk.

From Kona airport go south on Highway 11 towards Kailua and continue on towards the 89 mile marker, turn right on Milolii Road. Go about three miles, turn right on to Ewalu Avenue drive down the road to Waenea Avenue turn left. Drive to third intersection which is Elima Avenue, turn right and go a half block to a tan house left hand side which is 88-1555.

From Hilo airport go on Highway 11 north for about two hours till you come to the sign that reads Milolii. Turn left by the sign drive three miles down the road to Ewalu Avenue, turn right drive down to the stop sign to Waenea Avenue turn left. Drive to the third intersection and turn right on Elima Avenue. Go a half block to a tan house left hand side of the road which is 88-1555. Daniel will have the house open for you and take you on a tour! My tax id numbers are TA-053-302-6816-01 and GE-053-302-6816-01

This is a beautiful place. Plenty of room for our family. 3rd bedroom does have a separate entrance but, it was fine for our older kids! Beautiful drive to get there and beautiful views. It is a drive from bigger areas but, we travelled most of the island so it was kinda in the middle. Would definitely stay there again

Once you know that there aren’t many sand beaches on the island this property really shines. There’s a local swimming/fishing hole within easy walk, and then it’s central to exploring the other attractions around Kona and Volcanoes

With a long sabbatical from work, we wanted someplace that would feel like home on the big island and we sure found it here. Enough space for our 4 adults and 3 kids, with games to play at night. We used the supplies to fish and swim and snorkel at the nearby swimming hole almost every day and/or took chairs/coolers/boogie boards to the beach. The house was perfect! And if we needed anything, Cheryl was super responsive. I’m so glad we picked this house and our stay was everything we could have hoped for.

This house is exactly as described. Room for 8 (if 2 are thin and short or are children). The host is very communicative and helpful. The check in and check out process is very easy. There are games in the basement and the host has a whole shed of snorkels, fins, chairs, beach equipment, etc. Really great if you've come from far and obviously couldn't pack your own.Why this house might not be for you: it is rural. If you want to go to Kona it's 1 to 1 1/2 hours away. Volcanoes NPS is about 2 hours away. If you are looking for restaurants or activities, you will be doing a lot of driving. Except for a few beaches, most of them are a drive too because you're on a mountain...it's a slow, curvy ride everywhere. If you are a nervous driver or get carsick, this is not for you. The road is steeped and very curvy. My family doesn't get sick...until our last day. But it was fun to see the mongooses and wild pigs in the road. If you like long, hot showers, this is not for you. There is little water in this area...you can't drill a well into volcanic rock and there's no public water. So you are taking short showers as the host requests. Also, I don't think I ever had a HOT shower. Even if I insisted on taking a 2-minute shower before my kids, the water would get warm (I always describe it as "llama spit") but never hot.

The property has everything you could hope for. Space, plenty of sleeping arrangements, toys and things you might need for your trip, beautiful views from a gorgeous porch, and one of the most helpful and gracious BnB hosts I've ever had the pleasure of dealing with. Book this place, you'll love it.

This was our first visit to the Big Island and we stayed for 10 days. We had a blast! Cheryl was a wonderful host. She lives on the property, which is nice because she’s close by if anything comes up and she has great suggestions on stuff to do nearby. But she was very respectful of our privacy and we only saw her if we sought her out. The house was perfect for our family with four young children. It’s very lived in and not so nice that I was stressed out all the time about my kids being kids, but clean and plenty of room for all of us to have space. However, several appliances in the kitchen were broken, like the juicer and toaster. The grill wasn’t working when we were there either. But the deck is a lovely place to have family meals, and Cheryl was so thoughtful and accommodating for our family’s needs. She left us a high chair, a pac-and-play, and a little cosleeper—all very much appreciated! The only drawback to this house was the location—if this is your first time visiting, do your research! Getting to this house off the main highway took about 15-20 minutes on a very steep and winding road. We went out adventuring everyday and the kids were carsick before we even hit the highway. It’s also a lot further south from Captain Cook than it shows on the VRBO map. Also the neighborhood this house is in is quiet and seems safe enough, but there are several houses in the area that made us question that as we were driving in. Overall it was a nice stay.

Our extended family of eight recently stayed at this beautiful beach house in Hawaii, and we couldn't be more pleased with our experience. The property provided plenty of room to spread out, plus there were adequate spaces that allowed us to gather and enjoy time togetherThe house was clean and comfortably furnished for lounging around inside as well as out on the deck. It has a well-stocked kitchen with everything we needed, an array of games to keep everyone entertained, including a ping-pong table plus snorkels/masks, towels and coolers for beach outings. The house was off the main highway down a steep winding road and located close to the water. It was in a quiet neighborhood away from the congestion of traffic. There is a good view of the water, spectacular sunsets, and beautiful night sky viewing. Cheryl, the property owner is a good communicator. She lives close by and is familiar with beaches, restaurants, etc. She acted quickly to address a plumbing issue that was quickly resolved.Overall, this beach house exceeded our expectations and provided us with a memorable and relaxing family vacation. We highly recommend it to anyone looking for a spacious and laidback place away from the tourist congestion of Kona. We can recommend this house without reservation. Aloha!

Great host, great location. About an hour from Kona, definitely need a car to get around to other areas of the island. But the area is very scenic so the drives were nice. The host was really responsive and left us a bottle of wine and chocolates. Would stay at the house again.
