About this house rental

The Granary is a beautiful self catering rural retreat, but only 4 miles from the lovely town of Llanidloes, Mid Wales. The Granary is a relaxing cosy rural self catering cottage consisting of a converted cart shed downstairs and granary above, with a new open plan kitchen/sitting room with a wealth of character, beams and wood burner.

It is located in the stunning upland Montgomeryshire countryside on the eastern escarpment of the Cambrian Mountains at 1100 feet on Bryn y Fan, looking east and south down the Trannon valley which leads in to the Severn valley and has spectacular panoramic views over 35 miles with far off mountains cradling the view. These spectacular views can be enjoyed from the terrace and windows of the cottage. Being set exactly in mid Wales, this is the perfect location to explore this beautiful, relatively undiscovered, part of the Wales and easily accessable to north and south Wales. There are also stunning sandy beaches only a 40 minute drive away (ask for details). This is the perfect retreat if you are also looking for peace and quiet to just kick back.

It is set in what was a traditional welsh farm yard on a five and half acre organic smallholding, up a quarter of a mile track, The granary is very private with its own garden and positioned on a large terrace looking down the valley with its spectacular views, which is ideal for entertaining, barbecuing or games. Very secluded with the nearest local neighbour a quarter of a mile away!

Downstairs is an open plan new kitchen, lounge and dining area with glass fronted wood burner. The kitchen is well equipped with everything needed for self catering.

There is the master bedroom, a small double bed on the landing bedroom and bathroom upstairs, double bedroom downstairs. The Granary sleeps 6 comfortably. We have also recently installed a bespoke shower in the bathroom to upgrade these facilities. Since Covid we no longer provide towels. However they are available upon request.

Electricity & lpg gas included for hob and oven.

The log basket is filled for short stays (2 nights) as part of the package, and there is a charge of £10 a bag once these are used up.

There is a TV & DVD player. No wifi in property but is available in yard outside main house. However, we do get very good 4g signal for all of the mobile networks.

Also, High Chair, Charcoal BBQ, picnic table, outdoor seating. We have a selection of local maps, games, adult and children's books for rainy days.

This is the ideal place to come and stay if you just want to 'get away from it all'. Deep in the heart of beautiful countryside and nature, but only 4 miles from local shops and amenities. Children are welcome with a lovely large terraced lawn area for play. There is no cot for infants, however there is a small 'pull out' single bed in the master bedroom. You are welcome to bring your own cot.

The Granary is also only 4 miles from the charming market town of Llanidloes with local shops many of which sell local produce including butcher and organic veg shop, greengrocers and Wholefoods. There are two supermarkets, a Coop and Spar. We like to encourage guests ‘to shop local’ to support our local community in this rural country market town, market day is Saturday.

Set within the 5 acres, there is a hectare of native woodland planted in 2011 which is coming on nicely and you are welcome to explore, we are establishing a wildlife conservation nature reserve with a large pond and have mowed walking tracks you are welcome to use, with benches strategically placed to rest and take in the spectacular views. We practice organic permaculture principles with sustainable aims providing a lot of what we need and have a strict recycling policy.

Very near Llyn Clywedog a large lake which has sailing, fishing (boats can be hired for thios), canoeing, paddle boarding (lessons can be arranged) and Ospreys nesting in the summer. We are very near the River Severn and Wye for excellent canoeing. & fishing Also, close to many fantastic mountain biking tracks too. There is an lovely walk up Bryn y fan, directly from the house, which when at the top, you can see over the lake and on to the Plynlimon mountains west, Snowdon and Cadar Iris to the North, Brecon Beacons to the South and over into hills of Shropshire to the east, stunning 360 degree views for nearly a hundred miles.

No WiFi in the cottage, only outside in the yard infront of the main house. However, there is very good 4g signal for all mobile suppliers.

There two other holiday lets available at these premises one that sleeps 13 and is called Goetre if you wish to extend the number of people for larger family group holidays. There is also a 120 year old beautifully restored Tram that sleeps 2.
we have almost 500 positive reviews for The Granary, Farmhouse & Tram on Airbnb and I am classified as a Superhost.
