Welcome to Snail’s Pace South, an idyllic retreat just five minutes from the stunning DeSoto State Park. This spacious hideaway boasts six bedrooms and 3.5 baths, making it perfect for families or groups seeking a peaceful getaway.
The heart of the home is its expansive kitchen, equipped with modern amenities including a drip coffee pot, wall oven, cooktop, dishwasher, countertop ice maker, crockpot, plenty of pots/pans & dishes, ensuring you have everything needed to prepare delightful meals and entertain your guests.
As you step into the large great room, you’ll be greeted by soaring 20-foot ceilings that create an airy, open atmosphere ideal for relaxation and socializing. A large sectional with 50” flatscreen TV with DirecTV insure you’ll never miss a game or a movie night! After a day of adventure at DeSoto State Park, unwind with a good book, or enjoy our board games for a family game night around the large dining table.
The main level features 4 bedrooms and 2.5 baths. The master bedroom has a King bed with flatscreen TV, access to the back deck, walk in closet and rock fireplace with electric logs. The second master bedroom features a King bed and access to the back porch. Bedrooms 3 and 4 both feature Queen beds and one of those also has a twin. The first bathroom downstairs has a shower/tub combo and the second bathroom has a large jetted, whirlpool tub (no shower). Upstairs features 2 bedrooms and bathroom with shower. Bedroom 5 is located upstairs with King bed, flatscreen TV, and access to the screened porch. Bedroom 6 features a set of bunk beds as well as a daybed with trundle.

We rented this beautiful property to attend a family reunion nearby. Property is comfortable for the 14 people of all ages that stayed with us. We had octogenarians people in their '50s, 20-year-olds and a 7-year-old who loved the property. The staff was quick to respond to our questions before our stay and during. Overall, I would highly recommend this property for someone looking to scale back from the big city and recharge for a few days.

Beautiful place. Views were amazing. Very clean and nice home. It was very accommodating for our women’s retreat of 12 ladies. Would definitely recommend for a family gathering. We plan to return in the future.

Everything since booking was been a delightful experience at Snail's Pace South. Check in instructions were sent before arriving and couldn't have been easier. We used Google Maps and never had an issue with navigating throughout our trip. Upon arrival I have to say the pictures didn't do this place justice! The warm atmosphere, tasteful touches, high ceilings, and amazing "sitting" porch with a great view truly made this trip one for the books. We did have a small issue upon arrival that was promptly handled by Holly and maintenance which we are very appreciated of! We were able to visit nearby Mentone and Ft. Payne as well as DeSoto State Park and Little River Canyon during our stay. 10/10 recommend making time for both during your stay. The entrance to the park is VERY close to the house with a great hike suitable for most ages. Lots of smaller grocery stores in the area and while the roads had the predicted curvature one would expect when staying at a higher altitude I found myself really enjoying the views along the drive that made it delightful. Thank you Holly for making our stay easy, and thank you all for the opportunity to make some amazing and much needed family memories together at Snail's Pace South. Extra thank you for the opportunity to bring our well behaved furry friends. It's not a vacation without the whole family!
PS- We did have a hard time finding baking pans, but we could've easily overlooked them. Other than that kitchen is truly equipped with all one could want! We used the grill to cook steaks and they were delicious. It even rained some of our stay but due to thoughtful deck construction we never once got wet while rocking on the porch.

We had an absolutely amazing weekend with family & friends for my granddaughter’s 10th birthday. The mattresses were so comfortable, the wood burning fireplace was cozy & so many memories were made! We now have a new annual tradition of celebrating her birthday here every year!
