Property Truths
Although a favorite of most guests, this property might not be a fit for demanding travelers. It's professionally cleaned, laundry is washed at 140°, we have the top cable available in the area, and our heating system is under 10yrs old and regularly serviced. However, it's also a historic house in a rural setting with rooms the caliber of the “popular” historic Equinox Hotel in Manchester. The furnishings are primarily antique and antiques are old. The floors creek and the windows can be hard to open. The kitchen dining area can feel cramped for groups greater than 14. The cable and Wi-Fi as mentioned, are the best in the area, but the best in this area is not as good as where you come from. If what I'm telling you sounds charming, and most guests do find it charming, then I'm sure you will love this house.

Location
A rare combination of creature comfort, solitude, and lavish dining and drinking. This is going to be easy, you deserve this. Set in the Green Mountain National Forest with amazing star gazing, mineral water straight from the faucet into your coffee tea or bath and no stoplights, but with WIFI, paved roads, cell-service, a grocer, a liquor store, and incredible shopping skiing and dining. Ski four top mountains - Bromley, (3 miles), Magic (6 miles), Stratton (13 miles), or Okemo (18 miles). Shop 40 Manchester retailers just 12 miles away. Eat at four Michelin quality restaurants and find 12 more family-friendly eats within 6 miles. If you prefer to relax onsite you can enjoy a outdoor hot-tub on the meadow, a walk in the forest, a drink and a book in a spa-bath or in front of a fireplace, or hit your private tavern for drinks and bocce-ball, giant-Jenga, or croquet. This place will really put your stress triggers on pause. Six thousand square feet of interior space and thousands of acres to get lost in:)

History
The Blue Door Farm was formerly known as the Nordic Inn. It is listed in the Vermont Nordic Ski Hall of Fame, and fondly remembered by locals and initiated travelers as the place to go to do anything from falling in love and getting engaged, to celebrating/reuniting with old friends and family. Now as the Blue Door Farm, it is updated remodeled and 100% private. The Blue Door Farm has hosted a wide variety of groups including - Reiki water-healing and other wellness retreats, the Burton Snowboard family, a Bollywood star, the twin baby stars of the Diane Keaton movie Baby Boom (filmed nearby), a former NYC Chief of Police, a Para-Olympic gold medalist, and even a reunion for an 80s band with a multi-platinum album.

This place had plenty of space for a large group—the en-suite bathrooms for all the bedrooms was great. We also really enjoyed hanging out as a group in the sunroom and at the fire pit and the kids enjoyed the basement tavern area. The home feels secluded because it is surrounded by wooded areas but the grocery store is 5 mins away so it’s still convenient. However, during our stay, there were some cleanliness issues and every bedroom and bathroom were filled with drain flies on the first night. We were only staying a couple of nights so we made do. There wasn’t a long list of things to do at checkout, which was appreciated.

We had three families including 12 in total come together for a 5 day New Year's trip to Vermont. The house was so much fun and in a great location between Stratton and Bromley. Super cool having the little pub in the basement. Great trip.

This place was built for a family gathering! Everyone had a private bath and a suite. No waiting for a shower here. The tavern was fun and allowed the group to come together. The outdoor fire pit was a hit too. We will be back.

I booked this property for a group of 18 adults, for my 30th birthday, and it did not disappoint! This was a group of people some who knew each other and some whom didn’t, and it was amazing for everyone to be able to have their own space. The kitchen was well suited for large groups and the basement was an amazing spot of activities. There were some many good areas for my guests to relax that it never once felt overcrowded. The property management was extremely response and the checkout process was so easy. Would love to book here again in the future if the need arises!
