About this house rental

If you’re looking for a cozy and comfortable cottage in a quiet area just a few minutes from the beaches, Casetta da Francesca is the perfect choice for you.
Recently renovated, it’s located in one of the historic neighborhoods of Cuglieri, a small town on the central-western coast of Sardinia, in the province of Oristano.
Not far from Piazza del Seminario and a 2-minute walk from the Basilica of Santa Maria della Neve, it is spread over two levels: on the first floor is the open-concept dining room-kitchen, a bedroom with a one-and-a-half-square wrought-iron bed (120x190 cm), and, next to the kitchen, a hallway leading to the bathroom with a corner shower and a top-loading washing machine.
Upstairs is the second bedroom with a French-style double bed (140x190 cm).
The house is equipped with a pellet stove. THE PELLETS FOR HEATING are the responsibility of the renter.
Guests have access to a small outdoor terrace with a table and chairs for breakfast or outdoor meals.
A travel crib is provided.

The nearest beaches are a 15-minute drive away and include: Santa Caterina di Pittinnuri, with its beautiful and picturesque bay; and the Su Riu cove, a stunning natural pool with emerald-colored waters; S’Archittu and its stunning natural rock arch, carved by the force of the sea and wind over millennia and designated a natural monument; the cove of Torre del Pozzo; and the beach of Is Arenas with its nearly 7 kilometers of sand.

Cuglieri is an excellent starting point for visiting the beautiful beaches of Sinis, including the well-known Is Arutas with its turquoise sea and beach of colorful quartz grains, Mari Ermi, Maimoni, and San Giovanni di Sinis, situated next to the evocative ruins of the ancient Phoenician-Punic city of Tharros—which can be visited year-round, including through tour packages that include admission to the Marongiu Civic Museum in Cabras, where you can also admire the statues of the “Giants of Monte Prama”. To the north, about 20 km away, lies Bosa, a charming village with multicolored houses situated at the mouth of the Temo River; continuing along State Road 292, through a succession of breathtaking views, you’ll reach the beautiful city of Alghero.

The house is perfect for a vacation for two or three people at various times of the year, starting with Carnival, since it’s not far from Oristano, where “La Sartiglia” takes place during those days— the “race for the star”—one of the oldest equestrian events still held in the Mediterranean region and one of the most spectacular and choreographed forms of Carnival in Sardinia.
During Easter, don’t miss the ancient Holy Week rites in Cuglieri, featuring the evocative Good Friday procession.
Spring and fall are the best times for nature walks to explore the area, its woods and undergrowth, and the waterfalls of S’Istrampu ’e Massabari and the most picturesque waterfall of Cabu Nieddu, which plunges into the sea from a height of about 40 meters.
In the summer, in addition to beach tourism, it’s a time for festivals and traditional folk events. It begins in May with “Open Monuments,” when all the monuments in the area (the 11 churches, including the Basilica of Santa Maria della Neve, which overlooks the town, the Seminary, the Olive Oil Museum, and the museum housing artifacts from the ancient city of Cornus dating back to the 6th century B.C.) are open to visitors.
On June 23, the night before the feast day of St. John the Baptist, the ancient ritual of “S’abba muda” is observed: the faithful walk in silence from the church dedicated to the saint to the springs of Tiu Memmere, divided into two lines walking on either side of the road, as the center is reserved for the souls of the departed. Upon reaching the spring, they wash their hands and faces and then return, still in silence, to the church to touch the statue of the saint and break their vow of silence.
In August, the festivals “Mandigos in carrela” offer a chance to immerse oneself in the traditions, flavors, and ancient crafts of the village, and “Panadas,” dedicated to the queen of Cuglierita’s culinary specialties.
