Lovely self catering holiday cottage in the attractive market town of Coja in the Arganil district.
This property was renovated in 2007 to provide comfortable self catering facilities for your perfect holiday. Many original features have been kept such as the stone walls, large wood beams and the wooden shutters. There are 3 double bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, living room with Portuguese satellite TV (includes some foreign channels) and wood burning stove for the winter. There is a door that opens on to the large balcony overlooking the river and across the valley to the mountains beyond. The kitchen and dining area are in the old converted wine cellar which opens out to the patio and garden with stone built BBQ and outdoor dining furniture.
New for 2014 free wi fi connection in the house.
The house is 200ms to the river beach and 500ms from the town centre with cafes, restaurants etc.
Coja is a small market town of approx. 1500 inhabitants in the district of Arganil The Rio Alva runs through the centre and is spanned by an ancient Roman bridge to join the 2 halves. The house is situated in the more residential half overlooking the river and across to the old cobbled centre on the other side.
Central Portugal is a beautiful, rural part of Portugal that remains relatively undiscovered by the hordes of tourists that are normally attracted to the Algarve in the South. There are forests and rivers, mountains and valleys, rural villages and ancient cities to explore. A beautiful area to come and explore or just relax!

Our family of four had a great time in Coja. The house has a good layout, plenty of space including two outside terraces overlooking the river. Everything was clean, working and full of character which for us is the most important aspect. Just a few minutes from a lovely river beach with cafes. The town is also nearby, no need to drive, everything extremely pleasant. The neighbours were very nice and welcoming too. There is a road behind the house, but traffic noise not a problem as it is not busy. This is not a 5 star residence but it is homely, cheerful, comfortable, clean and relaxing and we felt it was very good value. The river beach is one of the best in the area although the house is also a good base to explore further afield. We had a marvellous holiday.

We had a fabulous stay in Jane's house in Coja. It's right on the river front so perfect location. The house is spacious, comfortable and clean. I'd highly recommend and hope to return. Thank you.

This pretty house is conveniently placed within walking distance of the local shops.The accommodation is comfortable and has everything you need for a pleasant stay. It is delightful sitting out on the verandas and we enjoyed some lovely sunshine even at this early time of year!
Jane the owner was most helpful and left information about all the best restaurants in the area and many great places to visit.

I had a lovely cozy seven week stay at this beautiful cottage which is an ideal place for an Autumn or Winter's holiday. I would highly recommend this property to my family and friends, and I would like to add to my experience here and return in the summer for a visit too. It truly is a very special place.
