A Place Guests Return to Year After Year
Some families return every other Thanksgiving, making the Battenkill part of their holiday traditions.
A group of MIT astrophysicists has returned every November for a friends' reunion for a decade. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to appreciate the Battenkill, but apparently it helps.
Our guests describe what makes the mansion so special:
“every single on of my friends and family could not get over how spacious , clean and perfect it was for this ‘party’.” — Bernadette B., Vrbo
“The rooms are spacious with plenty of bathrooms.” — Kerry K., Vrbo, family reunion of 30+
“The house is beautiful & has tons of nooks and crannies. Fun for exploring!” — Sean D., Vrbo
The most meaningful compliment is that families and friends return to create new memories, year after year.

A Wedding Present, a Scandal & 120 Years of History
The Battenkill Valley Mansion was built in 1904 as a wedding present for the daughter of The Wilburton's owner.
The marriage, however, did not have a storybook ending. The young bride scandalized her family by leaving her husband and sailing to Europe on a steamer with a married man.
Our family has owned the award-winning Wilburton Inn for 40 years and the Battenkill Valley Mansion for 20 years.
Before becoming a gathering place for reunions, retreats, and celebrations, the mansion was home to our family's Earth Sky Time Farm. The farm later moved to 200 acres of Vermont farmland, where its organic farming and food traditions continue.
Today, we are proud to care for this remarkable historic estate and welcome families and friends who come from across the country to enjoy it.
A rare opportunity to gather everyone you love beneath one roof, in the privacy and elegance of a genuine Vermont mansion.
We look forward to welcoming you.
