Just a few hundred feet from the beach, Mermaid Manor offers coastal paradise in a prime location while providing a private pool in the backyard! You can even bring your favorite furry friend as this vacation rental allows up to two dogs per reservation year-round.
Soak up the sun while you sit by the pool, relax in the screened porch on the lower level as the sea breeze blows by or light up the fire pit for a soothing night with the ones you love!
An open floor plan welcomes you into the living area furnished with a large couch, two recliners and an accent chair focused around a large mounted flat screen TV. The couch is a queen sleeper sofa that can be used for extra sleeping space if needed.
The open space leads into the kitchen and dining area where you will find seating for four at the dining table as well as two more at the bar.
The spacious kitchen is lined with stainless steel appliances, white countertops and cabinets to go along with a large island perfect for prepping a meal or serving up some tasty appetizers.
The master suite flows off the dining area and welcomes you with a king bed, large walk-in closet, private bathroom with a dual vanity and walk-in shower, and is rounded out with private access to the back screened-in deck.
The bunk room, located on the ocean-facing side of the home is finished with a twin-over-double bunk bed, closet space and views of ocean across the way. There is also a twin trundle tucked under the bunk bed.
Connected to the bunk room by a shared full bathroom is the final bedroom that features a queen bed, built-in desk and closet space for your vacation essentials. A pack and play and a high chair are also provided for your little ones.
An additional half bathroom and private office space also feed off the living area so you can find that perfect work life balance when you visit the coast!
Outdoor entertaining and relaxation is easy on both porches! The front porch offers rockers where you can sit and listen to the waves crash and pelicans glide by over the water.

My kids and I needed a beach home that would accommodate our two senior Siberian Huskies, as well as a house with a pool that was in close proximity to the beach. This checked all of those boxes. The home was very clean and spacious. This property is also perfect for pets that want to stretch their legs in the fenced in yard as well. The owners also did a great job of providing items such as a dog mat for water and food bowls, as well as other neat odds and ends. We will definitely book again and had an absolute blast!

Got there right at 4:00…someone from the management company got there at the same time for a quick walk-thru (seemed rushed, like they were unprepared). We ended up making the most of our stay, but we had issues with cleanliness and poor communication all week.
Floors were filthy…don’t look at your feet if you’re barefoot for a few minutes!
There was a permanent blood stain on the powder room toilet seat.
The front and back door glass windows were filthy (probably slobber that was never cleaned from the previous guest’s dog.)
There is a grill on properly that had issues and was obviously never checked…there was old, dead food bits on a grill sheet still on the grill. The grill did not light and all knobs spun freely. We ended up getting a loaner grill but it took two days from my first reach out.
Used the VRBO app to try to communicate but no one ever responded to messages.
I’ve used VRBO plenty of times with success, but this was the first time I’ve ever rented a property maintained by a management company rather than a private owner and I think that was the difference. Oak Island Accommodations obviously doesn’t put the same love and care into their properties than a private owner would.
