About this cottage rental

Recently built 1035 sq ft cabin with 900 ft of frontage on the Ompompanoosuc River. Loft area contains a large BR with a double bed and an attached sitting room with a single bed. The vaulted living room has a double sized sofa-bed and a Harry Potter "cupboard-under-the-stairs" that will hold a cot for your little wizard. A crib is available if needed. The large kitchen has a table, central island, double sink, refrigerator, microwave, convection oven, and a working antique wood-burning cook stove (Crawford Jubilee). Two bathrooms open off the kitchen -- one contains a sink, shower and W/C; the other a W/C. A large wrap-around deck overlooks the river and has ample room for picnic table and lounge chairs. A propane grill is by the deck. A piped gravity-fed spring provides low-pressure water even if the power goes out.

Imagine having your own private botanical and wildlife park with 3 hiking trails, a waterfall, a 30+ mile overlook, a frog pond, a swimming hole, and a gravel bar "beach". This is sure to keep everyone entertained. Telephone and high-speed internet is included. TV signals don't make it into this valley, so a VCR and CD video library is set up in the living room. A 175-yd practice fairway is part of the 35-acre wooded retreat. Access to the cabin is by a gravel road with a stone-bottom ford that is easily handled by an SUV during low water. During high water a pedestrian bridge does the trick. Moose, deer, bobcat, bear, turkey, and numerous small birds and animals call this property "home". If you're a rock climber, there are cliffs here that will test your abilities.

DIRECTIONS: Exit 14 of I-91. Head NW on Rt 113 towards Chelsea for 7-8 miles; when you reach B&B Store in West Fairlee, continue 2.65-mi more; property is on the right right past the yellow cape. Keep these directions handy as the mountains raise havoc with GPS and cell signals. NOTE: This is a drunk, druggie, pervert -free accommodation.

SPECIAL: 32-day month rate = $3699. Makes you exempt from the 9% Vt rooms and meals tax. (30 days you pay the tax; 32 days you don't). It's like 2 free days on top of the discounted monthly rate.
SEASONAL: June, July and August = $9,500. Act quick before the summer calendar gets chopped up.

OUR GREEN COMMITMENT: To provide the highest quality of living standards while making the least impact on the environment.
While enjoying your vacation you can rest knowing that virtually no fossil fuels are being consumed here. Water is gravity fed, cooking is by wood or electric, heat is by wood. Our electricity is generated by landfill methane, hydro, solar, and wind power via Washington Electric Co-op..

My husband and I had an amazing stay! It felt like taking a step back in time to when things were simpler. We enjoyed walking the trails around the property and spending time by the river. The cabin was cozy and had everything we needed. It's not everyday you get to use an old wood fire oven, but we had blast. Richard was an excellent host! He was truly a fountain of knowledge and knew all the best places to drive around. He even gave us advice on the rest of our travels, it was pleasure talking with him. Next time we are in the area, we know exactly where we are staying.
