About this cottage rental

The Dairy Cottage nestles in the tranquil eight acre grounds of Great Wells House set in the heart of the New Forest National Park in the prime village of Burley.
Formerly the Dairymans home when the estate was a working farm, now beautifully transformed into an idyllic holiday home.
The Dairy has two double bedrooms one has a 5' double bed with double vista and french windows onto garden and TV with radio and the other bedroom has 3’ twin beds ( can convert to a 6' double ) also with TV/radio. There is also a travel cot which can be accommodated in the main bedroom or the small hallway outside the bedroom. The comfortable sitting/dining room has a TV/radio, large corner sofa and french windows onto garden. Separate well equipped kitchen (sorry no dishwasher). Cloakroom with loo and basin. The family bathroom is large and has a loo, bidet, basin, walk in shower and corner bath.
The cream brick and slate roofed property has views over its own pretty gardens to the back and the courtyard with private parking for two cars to the front. There is a brick patio with barbeque, outdoor seating and loungers for the summer months and plenty of room for outdoor games in the mainly lawned garden. Please note the garden is not fully fenced but is well away from any roads. Approached from a quiet village lane over a cattlegrid and situated at the end of a long driveway. You can walk directly into the Forest and see the lovely New Forest ponies and local wildlife including deer, badgers, foxes, rabbits, buzzards and rare birds. There is a meandering brook just along the lane at Mill Lawn where the little ones can play poo sticks, catch minnows and go Kingfisher watching!
You may prefer a swim in the sea! The lovely Avon beach at Mudeford is only a 10 - 15 minute drive. You can catch the little ferry across to the sandbank and Hengistbury Head and walk in the beautiful nature reserve.
The Garden Cottage just across the lawn from the Dairy can be booked if you have additional guests that would like a bit of privacy, ideal for grandparents!

The Dairy Cottage is gorgeous, a perfect little cottage in the country side. Fully equipped kitchen with cloths, wash up liquid, tea towels. 2 lovely bedrooms with beautiful white linen and gorgeous feather pillows and quilts. Bathroom with fat white towels and dressing gowns too. The garden has outside sitting area and beds for sunbathing with cushions provided. A very relaxed lounge which leads straight onto a beautiful garden. The cottage is ideally situated for easy reach to the village of Burley. a 10 minute walk to The Queens Head which serves food all day and lots of tea rooms that serve breakfasts, coffee and cakes too. The Oldest Tearoom in Burley was especially good. Our favourite place to eat was The White Buck which was just by the golf course about a 15 minute walk through the New Forest. There are supermarkets which are not too far to drive to. Its a 25 minute drive to Mudeford and Avon beaches which are really nice with lots of interesting things to see, The Cat & Fiddle on that journey nice food. parking is not a problem and we paid with our cards at the machines. The New Forest is so lush and you do see lots of ponies all over the place, its really special. The Dairy Cottage is quite versatile as it was perfect for just us 2 and we loved the peace of it, but, if you had children with you they would love all the open space in the garden to run around in and around the area. 10 out of 10 is the Dairy Cottage

What a find! A real home from home property, with everything you could wish for in a holiday let. Pictures on site are accurate, we asked for the twin beds to be fixed together to create a larger space, such luxury! Loved the feather duvet… The hosts were very welcoming and made suggestions for walks, trips and restaurants. A joy to stay in the fold yard and see the ponies in the paddocks. There is so much to do in the New Forest, staying in The Dairy Cottage was a real treat. Thank you for accepting us into your home Carole.

We had a really enjoyable holiday. The Dairy Cottage was a lovely place to stay, very quiet, extremely clean, well furnished and comfortable. It was a joy to enjoy meals outside in the garden. All towels, tea towels and bed linen were provided including a welcome pack with tea bags, coffee etc. The New Forest is a lovely area to visit. We are particularly interested in Gardens and really enjoyed visiting Compton Acres, Mottisfont, Kingston Lacy and Furzey Gardens. Bucklers Hard and museum are well worth visiting. The Colin Nash restaurant at the Retreat is a hidden gem. Carole is a lovely host, very helpful, informative and excellent with communication.
