This is a charming traditional historical villa in Sicily, on 9 acres on the protected Nature Reserve of Monte Cofano. The House has been renovated and has 3 independent areas: The main area has a large living and a big fireplace, kitchen, 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
There are also 2 separated studio apartments with 1 bedroom, 1 kitchenette and bathrooms.

Please note: It is given in exclusive use of the villa only when it is rented by a minimum of 7 people. If the number is lower, the use of the villa is limited to the main house, and leaving free a separate studio apartment where it could be rented by another 2 guests.

Our old farm is a typical inner courtyards known as “baglio” are scattered across the area, testifying to its old agricultural roots. There is an ancient firewood furnace to make bread and cook traditional Sicilian meals. The entire house offers sea view. All the rooms have their own independent entrance. The geographical location of Baglio delle Gazze makes it an ideal starting point for day trips to numerous places of interest in western Sicily.
The villa is situated close to restaurants, services, supermarkets or several resorts and tourist monuments. And you can park inside the fence.

The Area. The area of this beautiful province, has one of the most beautiful seas of western Sicily. The closest town is Custonaci: a farming town located in the Trapani province; Endowed with a beautiful, unspoiled shore, Custonaci is an attractive destination for summer tourists. Particularly attractive are the seaside resorts of Cornino and Cala Buguto, the former being a lovely fishing village overshadowed by the Cofano Mount. From the coast, a trail facing the mount, winds its way past the 1500’s Torre di San Giovanni di Cofano and the Piana di Frassino-Tuono.

How to reach Baglio delle Gazze:
From Palermo take the route A29 Palermo-Trapani: leave the motorway at the Castellamare del Golfo exit. SS187 then following signs to Trapani and turn on SP16 to the city of Custonaci, then proceed in the direction of Baia di Cornino and once arrived at the sea-front of the bay turn right on the last battered road going through the mountain, Baglio delle Gazze is the last house on the left side of this battered road. Day Trips: Numerous walks, offering a various scenery, can be found along the coastline: the wide, sandy beach of San Vito, ‘Lo Zingaro' National Park , with its stunning bays of crystal-clear water, the amazing pinnacles of rock (Faraglioni) at Scopello, the Marsala Lagoon. In perfect harmony with this abundance of unspoiled nature there are traces of human life: the ancient tuna factories, salt works, water mills and old harbour sites, which are evidence of the strong ties with this rich and beautiful land. In no time a tall you can visit a host of unforgettable places. However, we will try to give you some advice about those places which are absolutely 'not to be missed'. Archaeological sites: Selinunte the largest Greek colony in Western Sicily; Segesta is an Elima town with its Doric temple and magnificent theatre. The island of Mothia is one of the most important Phoenician towns; the medieval town of Erice. The archipelago of the Egadi Island is magnificent.

I sometimes struggle with these reviews. This was not a 5 star hotel in the sense of prim & proper. But for us, this was an adventure in the true sense & what you see is what you get. A bit more remote & a bit more rugged but not average!Mario & Amy were fantastic & we spent a wonderful day with them showing us around. We had some weather challenges but thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

It is a lovely, unique home. The kitchen is well equipped and the grounds are beautiful. We enjoyed our stay and would love to return.

The property was very clean. It has four large bedrooms and one small double in a separate little house in the garden. There was air-conditioning in all bedrooms and in the large living room. The host provided great information , including names of restaurants nearby, and there was exceptional support from the housekeeper Teresa and her husband Franci. The veranda outside the garden house provided beautiful views of the Bay of Cornino and the hilltop town of Erice beyond. The kitchen was well equiped, with kettle, toaster among the items supplied, although we felt that there was a lack of cupboard space in which to store groceries. The sink had a narrow drain which needed careful maintenance. The sea was 350 metres away where the beach was rocky, but there was a sandy stretch about 700 metres from the house where swim shoes were not needed. The harbour about 1.3 km away provided a great place to swim when the sea was a little rough. And it has a nice coffee shop/restaurant. We had a thoroughly enjoyable holiday.

Charming building in a beautiful location, nice decorations and great view. The comfort leaves much to be desired, the beds, sanitary and electrical installations are far below average.I especially mention the annex, a tiny building totally unsuitable for two adults. My wife and I were unable to use it and moved to a b&b on the next street (much more comfortable and half the price but of course without much charm).
