Casa Buscina Beautiful Old Renovated Istrian Holiday Home

My wife, our 9-year-old daughter and I stayed two weeks in this beautiful house in the hills outside Umag, Croatia, and we could not be happier. The house is spacious, tastefully designed and comfortable. The AC works great, the beds provide a solid night's sleep and Neven, the owner, is always helpful. (He also runs the area’s best restaurant and his wife is a superb massage therapist.) I highly recommend a stay in this quiet, well-maintained house where the grass gets cut and the pool cleaned on a regular basis. We also loved the summer kitchen and used it often. We hope to return.

This is an absolutely perfect place to stay! Our group of 6 found the home to be like new and well appointed. With a full kitchen, comfortable living room, pool, BBQ area, washer, huge property, what more can you ask for? It's location provides seclusion and quiet, yet is the perfect base to explore Istria. The owners are extremely hospitable, with Neven the perfect host. He went out of his way to help us plan the perfect stay with restaurant suggestions, wine and olive oil tastings, and suggested visits. The family also has a restaurant nearby that I would highly recommend, Konoba Buscina. Be sure to enjoy a meal there. Overall, I would highly recommend both the accommodations and restaurant to anyone visiting Istria!

We had grandparents, my wife and I, two small children and a large dog to cater for, so finding the right place is not easy. this spot fits the bill though. It is beautifully sited in the country, deer stalk through the garden at night and early morning. You are a ten minute drive from Umag and close to many of the other local sites of interest. The countryside is littered with fabulous views, homely restaurants, ancient architecture and is dripping with history. The beaches are no more than adequate, but as this house has a pool, that was no problem. The rooms are a good size with comfortable beds, the bathrooms are modern and clean. The master bedroom suite is lovely, although there are headroom issues around the corners for tall people. The restoration of this stone villa has been sympathetic to keep the charm and yet updated to give modern conveniences. If you are English, you will want to take a kettle with you as this is not supplied. In the garden there is an outside dining area with lighting and cover from the elements along with a great built in barbeque. There is even a small vegetable patch from which you can take whatever is currently ready (the tomatoes are great). If only we had have been there a week later the Aubergines (egg Plant) looked like they were going to be spectacular. The whole place has a feeling of space and privacy. This villa is a fantastic place to wind down from the rigours of the world, get in some culture, use as a base for Golf and Scuba visit the country and visit the beautiful if rocky beaches. Highly recommended.

What a find, secluded but surrounded by lovely countryside this was a perfect house in which to relax. Not for you if you want to be close to amenities but to chill it is perfect. Lovely owners who couldn't have been more helpful helped the holiday go without a hitch. House is very comfortable, nice beds, air-con in the bedrooms etc. Pool is fantastic and the outdoor BBQ area with seating was also very good. Added bonus is that owners own the best restaurant in the area and as their house guests you are treated like one when you eat at their place. Overall highly recommended!
