JW MARRIOTT HOTEL Hacienda Pinilla is home to the JW Marriott hotel, You can purchase a day pass for use of the hotel's pool which is the largest throughout Central America. The day pass gives you access to all of the hotel grounds and amenities. Their current price is USD$120.

MOUNTAIN BIKE TRAILS With over 45 kilometers of trails throughout the ranch, forest, and coastline, Hacienda Pinilla is a great location for mountain biking. SURFING Hacienda Pinilla has to be one of the best locations in Costa Rica to base your surf trip. Rancho Alegre DESIGN
The design concept was to create an open-plan indoor-outdoor living space that allows a large family to enjoy both the open-air tropical climate and or retreat, to cool, air-conditioned spaces. This was achieved through the conscious use of extended shaded terraces adjacent to every living area throughout the home. Every room has individual cooling with personal split AC units and all bedrooms have double-lined blackout blinds.

Rancho Alegre LOCATION
Set on the 2nd hole of the exclusive Hacienda Pinilla golf course there is an abundance of nature and privacy that surrounds the property. Howler monkeys, roaming deer and flying macaws are all daily sights from the poolside lounge.
Leaving the gated community it is just a short golf cart ride down to the beach club on the white sand of Playa Avellanas.
The house has a MistAway mosquito misting system installed that is programmed to automatically spray a very fine mist of a mild botanical insecticide through a nozzle circuit installed around your property. With just two or three short mists per day, mosquitoes and other annoying insects disappear from our property yard.

We had such a great stay at Rancho Allegre. The house is incredible—spacious, comfortable, and really well set up for a group. It has everything you need, but in a way that feels relaxed and livable, not over the top. We spent most of our time moving between the pool, the outdoor space, and the big common areas—it just works so well for hanging out together.
The Vida Pinilla team made a huge difference. They were super helpful and easy to work with from the start, and once we were there, everything just felt taken care of. Nothing felt forced—they were just consistently on top of things and made the whole stay really smooth.
The location is also a big plus. Hacienda Pinilla has a ton to offer—great golf, horseback riding, trails for walking or biking, and the beach club was a daily go-to. Plus, there are a bunch of really good restaurants nearby, so you can mix it up between staying in and going out without any hassle. It’s one of those places where everything feels easy.
We all left wishing we had booked a longer stay.

The house was amazing. Pool is large. Resort pool we used quite a bit and the beach is just for the community which was awesome. Joel and the concierge group were pretty good. They provide a lot of great information but dropped the ball several times. Came home one night and lost all water function to the entire house. It basically had lost power and reset. Had a few days with no working coffee pot and had a large restaurant reservation made by their team that did not exist when we got there. The GTxpedition group that helped with tours was excellent. Small things but overall it was a fantastic week

The house itself was great, the pool and large bedrooms and open concept layout made it a real winner for the whole group.
Some issues I had were with the hosts. Communicating with them was a coin toss, and they’re only available 8am to 5pm so if you need help with anything past 5 pm, you’re out of luck which was inconvenient since places I’ve stayed at before are usually responsive whenever needed.
The location is very secure in the hacienda pinilla community but this made getting transportation really difficult and I think that needs to be made more clear. They say you have access to all these things like the tennis courts and the resort but there’s no way to get to them unless you have a car or golf cart which is around $100 a day. This also makes getting food really difficult. Also every car has to be approved for the gate entrance so everytime I needed someone approved I had to message the host (who would be unavailable after 5 pm), making things very inconvenient.
Cleanliness- overall it was really good, there was some issues with alot of bugs in the bedroom restrooms but besides that it’s a very well taken care of and beautiful house.
I think my main takeaway is the location issue, If you do not have a car then you’ll have to be okay with the following- being in a neighborhood that takes 12 minutes to get out of and has no access to food deliveries and difficult to get transportation.
