About this house rental

Arrowfield is an exceptional 1930's riverfront estate on 12 beautiful, secluded acres. The property has river access to it's own stunning, 100 ft. beachfront on the Hudson River for picnics, swimming, fishing and boating! The house has been restored with all original details and trim intact. There are 16 spacious, comfy rooms -- most with fireplaces and views of the river. Most of all this is a place to relax with family and friends. It is a world onto itself with little need to ever leave. But if you do, the village of Saugerties is walkable from the property and there are many charming River towns to explore within a twenty minute drive or less.

The estate is elegantly furnished and luxuriously comfortable. Special features include a grand porch overlooking a 60 X 20 swimming pool and the Hudson River. A majestic center hall opens to a sweeping two-story staircase. The grounds include mature trees, lush landscaping and gardens. You'll enjoy spectacular views of the river and mountains. A boat can even be moored at Arrowfield! This is one of the few properties of its kind along the Hudson.

This great location combines the beauty of the Hudson Valley and Catskills with the charm and sophistication of the arts and entertainment of Upstate New York. New York City is only two hours away by train or car. The estate is a five minute walk from the charming historical district of Saugerties Village which has numerous restaurants, a movie theater, interesting retail shops, playing fields, ice rink, and very close to HITS (for all you horse lovers). Historic Saurgerties lighthouse is a short walk from the property. It is also only a 30 minute drive to Hunter Mountain, 10 minutes to Woodstock, 20 minutes to Hudson, 40 minutes to the Berkshires. Also, hiking with trails close to the property.
Grand country home and location for family vacations and gatherings. Guests have enough space for privacy as well as many spacious comfortable rooms and outdoor spaces to both explore and relax. House has a north and south wing with three bedrooms in each wing. Ideal for large family or social gatherings,

We really enjoyed our stay! Great walks to downtown and the Lighthouse. The kitchen is great and there is everything to host a large Thanksgiving dinner. The house is very comfortable and warm with planty of inside places to sit with a large group. Our host got right back to me when there were questions.

The property is stunning. The porch and outdoor space including the pool area were a wonderful place for our large multigenerational family. For an extra fee of 60/day per dog, we had our pets there as well, and they would rate the experience as 5 star. The house is large and had plenty of room but was not an ideal fit for our needs. First, there are only 2 showers amongst the bathrooms, and this proved challenging for my elderly parents. Of the two showers, only one was an option for them because the other was an old style hip bath, which was basically like a tub that had a lower sink sized area to stand in for showering (not really a safe option for anyone with mobility or balance issues.) on the positive side, the water pressure was excellent. The other challenge was that the lighting in the house was not bright enough in some spaces. This was not an issue during the day at all, but did become frustrating after dark. We had one issue with a bat in the house, which we were able to remove safely, and Kim was very responsive and addressed the problem immediately. Overall, we loved the location but felt it was not a match for some of our needs. I also feel that the price was high relative to other properties we’ve stayed at with our group. While we enjoyed our time together, we would not choose this house again.

The house and garden are absolutely stunning with views over the Hudson. Photos do not quite do it justice. Kimberly was easily reachable throughout and left clear rules. She also kindly referred us to a private chef.Would recommend this property to anyone.

TLDR: Schedule permitting, we will happily return to this house next summer. We were a family of 12 spanning 3 generations, including 6 children under the age of 6. We went with high expectations, but noted some previous reviews re mosquitoes (no worse than any other yard in our experience) and lack of central AC (the window units worked great and the house was perfectly cool the whole time), so better than we expected. - We've stayed at 4 other VRBO houses including 2 in the Hamptons, and the kitchen here was far and away the best - high-end appliances and every utensil, pot, etc. you could want. Zillions of towels for pool and bath, and so on. - The pool was great (we didn't need it heated in mid-August). - The house was immaculate when we we arrived - kudos to the cleaners. - While in the house, you'd think you were alone in the world, yet the town business district is an easy walk and a lot of fun. Easy drives to nearby Hudson and other towns mean there's no shortage of things to do with kids. - The owner, Kimberly, was a pleasure to deal with and incredibly responsive to the few questions we had.
