About this house rental
A renovated 1880’s farmhouse in the Village of Manset, two blocks up form the shore. Stroll down to the shore and watch the activity along the working waterfront. Stop in at Peter Trouts restaurant for an afternoon cocktail or the dock for boat fresh lobster. Just down the road is the Seawall and the walking trails of Wonderland and Ship Harbor. It’s a short 20 min drive to Bar Harbor or take the free Island Explorer that stops at the Manset Town Dock. The town of Southwest Harbor is about a 3 minute drive, and has gift shops, restaurants, and a specialty food market.
The house is decorated to reflect its coastal Maine location. The first floor offers a modern kitchen with everything you need for your stay. A dining room off the kitchen has seating for six. The living room has flat screen television with chromecast to watch your Netflix or Hulu. The cottage is equipped with broadband WiFi. On the front of the house is the enclosed porch perfect for starting the day off with a cup of coffee. This floor also includes a full bathroom off the kitchen.
The second floor has three bedrooms. The Master has a king bed and attached bathroom with shower. The second bedroom has a queen bed, and third bedroom has two twin beds. All three bedrooms are air conditioned.
Off of the kitchen is the small back deck with a gas grill. The deck overlooks a large yard, and a charming terraced patio. There is a fire pit for enjoying in the evening after your day of exploring this great island.
For those coming by boat there may be a mooring available in the harbor on request.

Fabulous home in a fantastic location! Quiet, clean, spacious, beautiful yard! One morning 2 feet & 5 huge wild turkeys were just hanging out in the back yard. It was such a treat to enjoy watching them. The town was close & quaint with some beautiful water views. HIGHLY recommend!!!

Two couples stayed and the house provided everything we were looking for: comfortable beds, plenty of indoor and outdoor lounging space, fully stocked kitchen and a great location! Far from the crowds of Bar Harbor but convenient to all the activities/restaurants we wanted. We would stay there again without hesitation!

The house is a classic old farmhouse that has been nicely renovated. The wooden floors sparkle and the house generally looks better than in the listing on VRBO. The furniture is simple and tasteful - classic styles in the bedrooms. Good firm mattresses. Updated bathrooms with good showers and plenty of hot water and pressure. The sun porch offers some separation from the living room, which is good for larger groups. The living room has very comfortable couches and is well setup for TV watching. All the downstairs rooms have plenty of lighting, with dimmers in each room which is a great design choice. The kitchen is large and well laid out and equipped with plenty of utensils. Excellent refrigerator and freezer with lots of ice cube trays, something that I don’t find in some rental properties but which is really essential! The setting is rural but not remote. I saw a mother deer and her spotted fawn walking through the backyard into the woods behind the house - a special treat even though there are lots of deer in Manset. The location of the house is very convenient to the restaurants in Southwest Harbor and Bass Harbor - no need to go to Bar Harbor at all unless you want to, of course. All in all, a very pleasant spot. Would definitely return if my plans bring me back to the area.

Excellent location for a trip to Acadia National Park. Very close to the lighthouse. Pretty good dining options nearby. Highly recommend Beal’s nearby. Really good experience. I would definitely recommend to anyone visiting area
