This private 4.5 acre estate is located at the base of Haystack Mt., next to a running brook with open fields and gentle forests lined with hiking trails to enjoy during any season.

The property is accessed via a private historic VT covered bridge that was built in 2011, and a long treelined driveway with a large flat parking area. You have direct views across the field of Haystack and Mount Snow Mountains that are enjoyable any season, but especially in the Fall during foliage weeks.

The main house was built by a master local builder in 2012 and completed by its present owners with top-of-the-line furnishings/appliances/linens. The property is professionally maintained as a luxury rental.

Each of the 4 Suites has an individual en suite bathroom, large closets, a gas fireplace. There is strong wifi throughout the house.

The lower level has a large playroom and two large bunk bedrooms and a full bath (there is also a washer/dryer room on this level). The kids never want to leave this recreation room.

The grounds include a gas grill (charcoal upon request), fire pit, picnic tables, covered front porch, a hidden running brook, a swing for kids, and scenic sunsets.

Lake Raponda and Lake Whitingham are 10 minutes away. Both have beautiful VT beaches and water activities/boating/kayaking for hot summer days. Mt Snow golf course is close by for golfing.

Zoar Outdoor in Wilmington VT offers plenty of activities for summer Day trips that include white water rafting in Charlemont MA or Bromley Mountain for zip lining, mountain coasters and other family activities. ACTIVITIES AND RESTAURANTS:

- HERMITAGE INN is a gem right next to our property. Check out https://www.thehermitageinnvermont.com to see seasonal events and happenings. They offer both upscale and tavern dining indoors and outdoors. There are also fire pits outside, perfect for a drink.

- Be sure to check out https://www.visit-vermont.com/southern/ before your trip. The website is run by the Chamber of Commerce and lists all local events and festivals in the area.

- HIKING: You're right on Haystack Mountain, there is a trail going up right in front of The Hermitage Club. We recommend AllTrails app to see all the trails in the area. Valley Trail, Hoot Toot and Whistle Trail in Wilmington, also Haystack Mountain trail from the Chimney Hill side are popular trails

- LAKES: MIRROR LAKE at the bottom of the Haystack Mountain is a nice and small lake to enjoy for swimming. It’s a private lake so please keep off the indoor areas but you can enjoy the lake otherwise. Left at the top of the driveway, stay on Fannie Hill Road to the gatehouse for the Hermitage Club.
HARRIMAN RESERVOIR: A much larger lake, it offers multiple picnic and beach areas, boating, kayaking. https://www.highcountrymarine.com/ offers boat rentals. There are charcoal grills and picnic areas at the public boat launch area.
Somerset Reservoir: If you’re up for more driving up from Lake Whitingham, you can drive to the Somerset Reservoir and enjoy the hiking trail along the reservoir, picnic and swim.

-GOLF: Haystack Golf Club is very close and public, amazing views, especially during foliage. They have a restaurant.

-TENNIS: Stratton Tennis Club - 25min

-FLYFISHING: vermontflyfishers (.com) has multiple locations in the area for flyfishing, locations and types of fish change depending on weather and season.

-MOUNT SNOW. We recommend buying passes ahead of time and going up from Carinthia at Mount Snow, instead of the Main Face which gets very crowded. Mount Snow also has a lot of events off season, especially in the Fall.

RESTAURANTS, West Dover:
- HERMITAGE INN: The Inn has new owners as of 2021 and they spared no expense for the renovations and landscaping. It’s a beautiful place to check out whether for just a drink, lunch or dinner. The wine menu just got the Wine Spectator Award in 2022, kitchen offers in season, well curated selections sourced from local farms. Tavern Menu has the all-time favorites like burgers, grilled cheese etc.
- THE LAST CHAIR – Family, casual with an arcade and outdoor seating. There is also an ice cream truck in front. The do not take reservations.
- TRAIL 87: Last Chair can be very busy, especially in winter. Right next door, Trail 87 is a great alternative. There is also A1 Coffee inside which is a cute little coffee shop from Wilmington.
- SAWMILL INN: Upscale dining, indoor and outdoors, the building is a historical farm turned into a charming inn. They also have a pool.
- 1 Mountain - Diner
- STICKY FINGERS: If the line is too long at the diner or you just want to grab and go, delicious bakery and a quick breakfast right across from Dot’s.
- NORTH STAR PIZZA: ONLY delivery available in town
- NOMAD CHEFS: They’re, as the name suggests, nomads. You can catch them by River Valley Market, “Wicked Wednesdays” at the Wilmington Inn and sometimes by the Distillery in Marlboro, VT (vermontdistillers (.com)). Check out their website to see where you can find them, they also bring the food truck to you for catering. nomadchefsvt (.com)

RESTAURANTS IN WILMINGTON:
- CAFE ROOST: Our favorite in Wilmington. Sandwiches, breakfast, all fresh and simple with the best VT sourced ingredients.
- ALPENGLOW: Great for winter dining, they have fondue and other European Specialties.
- DOTS Diner in Wilmington.
- There’s also the ANCHOR, fish restaurant and LA CASITA, Mexican Restaurant.
- Starfire Bakery, amazing bakery, seating available.
- There are a few shops on Main Street, also A1 Coffee and a bakery next to it a little further down on Main Street, close to Chimney Hill.
- WAHOOS (Summer only): Order ahead on wahooseatery (.com), service is very slow. There are picnic tables by the brook in the back.
- VERMONTDISTILLERS (.com)in Marlboro, VT. There’s a beautiful viewing deck, sometimes Nomad Chefs food truck and a pizza place across the street. About 10min out of Wilmington.

We had a wonderful multi-generational family weekend at this beautiful estate in West Dover, VT. The house is incredibly comfortable and thoughtfully equipped—especially the kitchen, which had everything we needed for group meals and celebrations. The beds were extremely comfortable, and we appreciated that every suite had its own bathroom, making it ideal for a large family group of adults and seniors. The grounds are stunning, with open fields, a lovely brook, picnic tables, and a front porch with plenty of seating for everyone. We enjoyed relaxing outside and soaking in the mountain views. There are some limited hiking trails right from the property, and the location was perfect for exploring local restaurants, fairs, hiking, and kayaking in the area.We were celebrating a milestone 80th birthday, and the home provided the perfect setting for our family to gather and make memories. Check-in and check-out were both seamless, and the owner was proactive and responsive, making sure everything was just right for our stay.We highly recommend this home to any large family group looking for comfort, beauty, and a truly special place to gather. We would happily stay here again!
