We really enjoyed staying at the commandery. It was a very unique experience when I was staying in the Provence region. It was very clean, despite all the old stone around the apartment. Only issue I noticed was that the rain shower sprayer was cracked down the middle, causing the water to burst out in the middle of the fixture and the hand sprayers holder was completely missing, but that isn’t enough for me to give it less than 5 stars. It was a little challenging to enter the courtyard with a small SUV, but free parking was only a few minutes walk once we unloaded. Everything you need in a kitchen will be in the apartment, so stock up on your food before you come. It may be pretty warm in the apartment (depending on when you come) but the AC units and water cooled fan will quickly cool down the place.

We were so pleased with our stay at the commandery. It's beautiful, comfortable, and charming. The photos don't do it justice and the town is worth the visit.

Montfrin served as a good home-base to explore other areas of Provence. The bakery right by the apartment was lovely, and there’s a decent grocery store in the town. Fleur was on holiday when we visited so we had almost no contact with her. Her father-in-law served as host during our stay. He was great! The apartment is in a twelfth century building—so very unique and historical, but there are a few challenges to be aware of. 1. While there is AC, it’s only in the bedroom, which is on another floor and away from the rest of the apartment in another part of the building. We were there in June, and the living area was uncomfortably warm most of the time. 2. The stairs -- The main bedroom is on the top floor (there’s a single bed just off the living area below). The bathroom is a floor below in another part of the building. The stairs from the bedroom to the bathroom, especially at night, were tricky to navigate safely – two 90 degree turns with no handrails and, at the top, a stone lip then drop off to descend the stairs, making bathroom visits at night quite challenging. 3. The mattress is soft, and for us, not enough support, causing a sore back by the end of our stay. 4. The rooftop terrace – accessed by stairs from the bedroom, has lovely view, but faces the afternoon sun was too hot to enjoy for most of our stay. If you are traveling in cooler months, though, it’s a lovely spot.
