Mara Intrepids Tented Camp

Our stay at Mara Intrepids Camp was an incredible experience from start to finish. Our safari driver, Dennis, was outstanding. He was patient, knowledgeable, and clearly knew the Mara extremely well. What really stood out was his commitment to giving us our own experience rather than simply following the crowds. He took the time to find the right spots, and many of our drives felt incredibly private and secluded. We spent long stretches enjoying the Mara with hardly another vehicle around us, which made the experience feel truly special. Dennis also had an incredible eye for photography. He knew exactly how to position and angle the truck to give us the best possible photos, whether it was using reflections in the water, finding the perfect light, or positioning us to capture the sun in the background. He was always thinking a step ahead and pointing out opportunities we probably would have missed on our own. We saw an incredible amount of wildlife and experienced some truly unforgettable moments during our drives. The location of the camp itself is something special. Mara Intrepids sits right along the Talek River, where a resident family of hippos can be seen from the camp. Throughout our stay, we also watched other wildlife moving through and along the river, making even the time spent relaxing at camp feel like part of the safari experience. The entire team at Mara Intrepids was warm, welcoming, and genuinely attentive. The food was excellent, and the service at every meal was exceptional. The staff were friendly, attentive, and seemed to genuinely care about making sure we were having a great experience. The tents were beautiful—luxurious, comfortable, and exceptionally clean. Traveling with kids, one of our favorite touches was the Adventure Club. After hours of sitting in the safari vehicle, the kids could go run around, play, and burn off some energy while we had a chance to relax. It was a fantastic addition for families.

This is a beautiful safari camp in a fantastic location. The property is elegant with a lovely open-air dining area, reception pavilion, swimming pool, bar area, souvenir shop, and several open-air living rooms situated around the camp. The staff are so friendly and knowledgeable. We felt very secure with an electric fence around the camp to keep the large animals out, plus on-duty guards day and night to make sure all guests are safe and sound. We had excellent privacy in our tent by the river, with views of the animals that came down to the water. There were usually hippos around right by our camp. We really liked that 3 game drives per day were included in the price along with all meals. Our driver Dennis was fantastic, and showed us all the sights. He had the excellent recommendation that we combine the two morning drives into a longer drive with a picnic breakfast out on the safari. This allowed us to do longer drives which we loved. The great migration was so impressive! Dennis knew all about all the animals and terrain, and we learned so much from him. The animals were amazing, and we saw so many babies -- elephant babies, giraffe babies, warthog babies, young lion, wildebeest, zebra, etc. We also got excellent massages from Ann who was wonderful. A very special trip and we recommend this camp highly.

I can't think of any improvement or suggestion. The camp was actively involved in maintenance and renovation, and clearly take great care of the property. Everyone was friendly and helpful. We loved staying here in the heart of the park.

Mara Intrepids itself is an unforgettable experience. The location is stunning, convenient and relaxing yet luxurious, and the entire team goes above and beyond to make every moment memorable. What truly sets this camp apart, though, is the people and the food. The staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely invested in making our stay special. A heartfelt shoutout to Daisy, whose kindness and hospitality made us feel instantly at home, and to Samson, our incredible tour guide. His knowledge, patience, and passion for wildlife turned every game drive into something extraordinary. We would definitely go back. Mara Intrepids Camp delivers an experience that stays with you long after you’ve left.
