Local Attractions: The famous Romney Hythe and Dymchurch, miniature steam train stops less than 1 mile from the house. Trains run all year between Dungerness and Hythe with 'special days' operating throughout the year. These include Thomas the Tank engine days and Santa Specials.
Listen out for the toot toot of the whistle as the train steams it way through Romney Marsh.
Visit Dungerness and climb to the top of the old lighthouse. On route stop to view the houses at Dungerness built using train carriages as the hub. Check out the cactus garden of the late Derek Jarmen (film director).
Take the steam train to Dymchurch and visit the funfair and arcade particularly suitable for younger children.
'Penny Falls' which now swallow 2p coins still provide plenty of excitement for young and old.
Dining and Drinking: An abundance of pubs, restaurants and the famous 'Pilot' fish and chip restaurant are all close by the nearest being the local pub the Seahorse. For serious ale drinkers, we will, with a little prompting, reveal the name and location of a local pub unchanged for nearly 100 years where the words 'ice' and alcopop' do not exist......
Update: Our property was previously named ‘T’s Beach House’.
