About this apartment rental
This studio is perfect for the vacationers who wants to spend their time out and about exploring the island and still have a very nice, comfortable place to come home to. It's on the 4th floor of The Island Surf in South Kihei and within walking distance of many shops, deli's, beaches, restaurants, and bars. It looks out towards the east and the beautiful Haleakala volcano. Although I would highly recommend a rental car to explore the island, the studio's close location to many things makes it ideal for those who choose to not rent a car (walking score - 78).
This 240 sq. ft. studio comes with a full bathroom, a beautiful new walk-in tiled shower, a very comfortable queen size bed, AC, ceiling fan, refrigerator, a microwave, 4 cup brew coffee maker, toaster, dishes glass ware and utensils. It has cable TV, Wi-Fi, and USB chargers. The blackout drapes are great for sleeping in.
Included is everything you need for the beach - cooler, ice packs, food keepers, beach chairs, mats, towels, beach umbrellas as well as personal rain umbrellas. The studio is quiet - located on the backside of the complex so it does not get the street noise.
The ocean and beautiful Kalama Park are directly across the street where surfing and stand-up paddle boarding lessons take place. It's the perfect spot for whale watching during season and taking in those spectacular Maui sunsets. Surf boards and bikes can easily be rented from shops on the first floor.
The beautiful sandy Kamaole beaches are a short distance just to the south and continuing all the way to Wailea and Makena, home of world famous golf courses.
The studio is perfect for one or two adults - no children please.
I've been in the hospitality business for many years and have set this studio up to please any traveler who wants a very nice, clean accommodation without spending an arm and a leg. If this fits your travel style you will be very pleased with this charming place and the Aloha it offers.
Update on the Lahaina fire:
I am sure you are aware of Lahaina and the tragic event of the fire. Lahaina is slowly starting to rebuild but it will take many years. The rest of the west side of the island where Lahaina is located is fully functioning and open for business.
The Governor and Maui Mayor have emphasized that the rest of the island is still open for tourists to come and enjoy. Kihei has been unaffected. Vacationers are welcome to come and enjoy the South/Central and East part of the island that still has many spectacular places and fun things Maui has to offer. Governor Green has been on national TV recently advising that the best thing interested people can do to help the island recover is to come and vacation here and support our local businesses.
Now after 3 years since the tragic fire, Lahaina has been cleared of the fire debris and many homes are being rebuilt. New housing projects are underway and the fire victims are beginning to move in. The commercial part will be next and the Lahbaina harbor is now reopened for business.
The studio is located in The Island Surf Condominium and is zoned as Condo/Hotel and as such is NOT subject to any of the efforts to convert short term vacation rentals to long term rentals. You do not have to be concerned at all in making a vacation reservation at this property. Please note that The Island Surf is a NO SMOKING building. There is a designated smoking area in the parking lot.

This unit contains just about anything one could want for meals in a one room (bathroom) condo: toaster, coffee maker, microwave, large (for the space) fridge with freezer; plus plates, bowls, silverware, knives, etc. It also includes many beach items that I saw other people renting at local businesses: beach chairs, beach towels, cooler, and other items I've forgotten. About the only thing that was not provided was a surf board and that can be rented at a shop directly across the street. Dozens of quality food trucks and other restaurants are within walking distance, and a park across the street gives good access to the beach.

Everything was as advertised and more, there’s tons of beach stuff provided in the unit (umbrella, towels, chairs etc). Truly a wonderful experience-when researching I thought this place was to good to be but it actually was not. The host is a very lovely man who I hope we will travel back to see and chat with again (very nice and gives great recommendations)!

Perfect for a solo traveler but fine for a couple. Easy check in, very clean. Had everything needed. And the best part its located right by the beach, shops and eateries. Very walkable. Down in the same building is a nice coffee/pastry/ food place Grab breakfast and take to the beach. Also a little grab and go store right there. Would definitely use this place again.

AC worked great. The host responded to every question I asked. Room was clean but the inside shower curtain needs to be cleaned or replaced. We like a balcony and this unit didn’t have one but that was probably my fault for not checking closer when I booked. Had a Mountain View but windows were frosted so you could not see out. Room was well stocked with everything we needed for our stay. Thanks to our host Cloy!
