Le Clos des Flots, La Flotte - "La Dune" house - 2 bedrooms, private patio

I booked the property in La Flotte for my sister and I. We both like a good size double bedroom for our stay. It looked and sounded just what we needed from the description - two double bedrooms with beds that could be either twins or double in each. When we got there we found that the second bedroom was, in fact, in a converted roof space accessible by a fairly steep ladder type stair case. I am only just under 5 feet 2 inches tall and I could not stand upright in the highest part of the bedroom which was just in the middle section of the room. The roof then sloped downwards to the walls and I spent the whole two weeks trying to remember to bend low enough to access the majority of the room. I have to say that I didn't manage it all the time and banged my head several times on the beams that went across the ceiling. I do feel that this sort of information should be detailed VERY CLEARLY in the information given about the house. I am a fit almost 69 year old woman but it was not easy to spend my fortnight trying to avoid concussion every time I went up to the bedroom! We imagined what it would be like for someone who is six foot plus! We have booked apartments and houses all over Europe with your company and with other similar companies and know that we will be asked for a deposit on arrival. Mostly these days Credit Card information is sufficient. When we went to Portugal two years ago, it was clearly stated in the details that the owner required a cheque for the deposit. When we arrived, Benjamin wanted 400 euros in cash or a cheque - we compromised and he accepted 200 euros in cash and took card details for 200 euros. This is not easy when one has budgeted spending money and then one has to give some of it away at the beginning of the holiday! Why is this information not detailed clearly once one has made the booking? There was also an extra 30 euros required for tax which was, again, not detailed in the body of the email I got confirming the booking. Neither was the fact that sheets and towels were not included in the price of the rent for the house! On other occasions when we have booked, nothing has been hidden and it really should be the case that EVERYTHING is clearly stated in the details of the house and in the booking. I have to say that we really did enjoy our stay in Benjamin's house and that he was very helpful Best wishes Elaine Greenwood
