About this house rental
Looking for an escape to the lake? Look no further! Lake Escape is a hidden gem, tucked away in a quiet finger of Lake Gaston offering the perfect place to gather with your friends and family. At Lake Escape, we spend our summers with a speaker and a float hanging out at the dock and the cooler months fishing or cozying up around the fire pit. With 2 kitchens, 2 living rooms, 6 bedrooms, and ample baths, there is enough space for everyone. We custom designed and built this home as a family, with family in mind. The goal was to have large common areas where we could eat and play board games together, laughing and enjoying each other’s company with the perfect balance of privacy so everyone has their own space to retreat and unwind after a good, long day.
You will enter our home from the covered carport into the main floor and immediately be met with a beautiful view of the water. On this upper, main floor you will find a huge kitchen and dining room attached to the living room with seasonal fireplace, and two private bedroom suites with attached, private baths. Our kitchen is very well stocked, with lots of seating options for everyone, and the living room is big enough for the whole family! Surrounded by windows, you will have an amazing, unobstructed view of the lake from almost anywhere.
Downstairs you will find a secondary kitchen allowing extra storage and refrigerator space as well as a second set of appliances, perfect for cooking for large groups! As you make your way toward the lake, you’ll find the hub. Our living room downstairs is the perfect hangout for the entire family! Downstairs has a more laid back feel and a variety of activities for all to enjoy. Those with a competitive spirit can test their skills at the ping pong table while others can gather on the large sectional to watch a movie, sports, or listen to music! We have upgraded wifi so you will have no problem streaming movies or music (or working if you absolutely HAVE to, but we encourage you not to 😉) We have an “art nook” for the kids (or the kids at heart) and a generous game closet filled with cards, board games, puzzles, trivia, and so much more. The remaining 4 bedrooms are off these main living spaces on the lower level.
Our large yard is relatively flat compared to many homes on the lake and is perfect for throwing a football, playing badminton, or a friendly game of bocce ball (all of which are included!). There is sun and fun galore down at the dock, perfect for floating, fishing, or just finding some sun. At the dock, you’ll find lounge chairs for the sun lovers, noodles and a small selection of life jackets for those that want to float, and even a small refrigerator for live bait for everyone who wants to wet a line. Our paddle boat is available for you to use and you may rent kayaks, paddleboards, or boats from various businesses around the lake.
Just because the sun goes down, doesn’t mean the fun stops! We have a built in fire pit, perfect for roasting hot dogs and marshmallows for smores. Just bring your own wood! When the fire dies out, sit around a while. The night sky is filled with stars and away from the hustle and bustle of busy life, you can sit back, relax, and enjoy this beautiful place that we get to call home.
The “Lake Escape” is located in Tanglewood Shores Golf and Country Club, just 6 miles off Interstate 85, Exit 4 in southern Virginia. For a fee, you can play a round of golf on the community’s 9-hole course, or have access to the community recreation area! The rec area is always a family favorite, you can enjoy the beachy area with roped off swimming section, playground, grills, covered picnic shelters, basketball courts, and docks for fishing. Grocery stores, a marina with (our favorite) on the water restaurant and boat rentals, Rosemont Winery, and more local dining options are only a short drive away.
We are so blessed to have this home and the opportunity to share it with you, our amazing guests! Our manager, Faith grew up in this home, on this lake. (Hi, it me, I’m the one writing this bio. Haha!) I have a special insight on the area and all the fun things there are to do and it is always my goal to help you make the most of your getaway. As a safety precaution required by our home owners insurance, our home is equipped with a doorbell camera at the front door and an outdoor camera covering the exterior doors downstairs. There are absolutely NO cameras inside. These cameras are not monitored, unless there is an issue. If you have an issue, please don't talk to the doorbell! Give me a call or send a text, and I'm happy to help.

The house had large rooms and common areas, which was so nice for our big family. Also, there were a lot of great yard games and the kitchen was well stocked.

Relaxing stay. Well-stocked, open concept house with plenty of room for large groups & great views & direct access to the Lake. Lots of activities including PingPong. A great neighborhood for walking & meeting people & their dogs.Only suggestion we had was a deep clean of the Bathroom & Shower tiles - the nature of waterfront property where moisture/humidity tend to settle easily & stick around.

Had a great time at the house. Loved the open floor plan and spacious living areas with a clear view of the lake. Enjoyed the back yard and made s’mores over the fire pit. Looking forward to going back soon!

Comfortable house with a beautiful view. There are lots of mobile homes in the neighborhood. Suitable for a family gathering. The carpet in the first bedroom on your left is filthy, and the bed is falling apart. No support for your back. I do have videos and photos. There is a $250 linen fee. The towels are extremely old and small. The AC never WENT BELOW 73 (it was hot, a heat wave). I texted the host and she alleged remotely she was able to see it was 67. We cleaned the house from top to bottom. We have tons of photos. We stayed four days and three nights. We paid a lot of fees, insurance, linen, cleaning, etc., etc..after the bedroom and AC incidents, we requested a small refund, and she refused. I was expecting better customer service.
