An excellent over night stay

The location was fantastic for the Via Alpina walk or access to some incredible walking! The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. And when we came to pay, the card payment machine was not working and the owner allowed us to leave and trusted us to transfer later which we did! Thank you!

Cook and the woman in the reception are really kind and helpful.

First, we booked a room with balcony and we got without it :/ There was a men in the reception who is rude, kind of never greetings to the guests one, he is mostly not answering :D Oh, and the doors are dangerous many people hit their head, I suggested to place warning signs, but I have not received a response, of course. I'm quite sure never go that place again and I do not recommend that.

Great little hotel in the mountains. Food was delicious and the owner was generous enough to make us some sandwiches to go, which really hit the spot on the trail the following day. I met a guy from Germany who had been coming to this valley since the late 1960's when his parents took him there. He also agreed that Hotel Gemse was a great pick. Would definitely stay again! Thank you.

Tranquility in the mountains

I like this type of hotel very much, absolutely beautiful atmosphere, room very cozy, bed wide and comfortable, very tasty food in the restaurant and breakfast was easy but absolutely sufficient. Amazing location, everywhere quiet, the river murmuring, the mountains. Just a pity I didn't stay longer. I will definitely come back one day and will recommend it. I enjoyed my stay. Many thanks!

Nice place in you don't mind the church bells at night

The place is conveniently located when you hike Via Alpina - that's why we chose it. You can rest on the balcony with very nice view. Comfortable beds. Friendly staff. not so expensive for Swiss standards.

The church bells ringing during all night - if you don't have a deep sleep this can be annoying. Chef in the restaurant has overcooked our dinner - the meat was dry (soup and salad were good)

Beautiful mountain village, clean big room and really good, big and clean bathroom.

Room as well as the whole hotel is old- definetely needs some renovation, it does not look cosy. Food in restaurant was disappointing in the evening but breakfast was even worse - very very poor choice, not looking fresh.

Lose the flies and all will be well.

Location, room, and meal were great.

There were an ungodly amount of flies in our room and in the restaurant that detracted from an otherwise great place. I killed 25+ flies just to make the room livable. Note that the flies seemed to be an issue throughout this small hamlet, not just at this hotel.

This is an average small hotel in a small village and one of just a few places to stay here.

The building is very quaint and cute, and the family that runs the inn is friendly, I would consider staying here again in the future if passing through this town.

They seem short-staffed, so anticipate some delays for checking in/out and meals. Don't expect much English spoken here- the older man supervising breakfast made little effort to communicate. Due to the surrounding farms, expect flies all over the place (think breakfast buffet)

We had a lovely room, which was very recently renovated. Very nice atmosphere and convenient location while hiking the via Alpina.

For 1 night it was a very good experience.

The hotel is very close to a grocery store and have good facilities.

Owners arrived only at the evening so there was no option to order food/drink at the local restaurant.

The hotel is very well located if you want to hike the Via Alpina. Breakfast was very nice. Staff extremely friendly.

Coming from other country, food in Switzerland is always a bit pricy. We had dinner in the restaurant and we found is nice but not magnificent (given what we have paid)

Die Gastgeber waren super nett und es gab Spielsachen für Kinder, sie haben Kinder gerne und es war sehr heimelig/gemütlich. Die Preise für Essen und Trinken waren sehr gut.
