About this cottage rental
Due to the popularity of our other holiday rental property "The Ridge" we have renovated another house on our farm "The Grove".
The Grove is more spacious house with 3 bedrooms. With a larger living room and kitchen.
If you love peace, tranquillity and wildlife then this is the place for you. Abundant bird life and when walking along the banks of the Gunny Creek, you may spot a Wallaby or two..
We love people who bring their dogs and other pets on holidays with them. We do have a secure dog yard. Pets are allowed inside. But be sure to bring your own blankets/ bedding for them to lay on. Do not allow pets on furniture and bedding. And please vacuum dog hair from floor before leaving.
The Gunbower Creek is a great spot for fishing and in summer it is a popular place for swimming and water skiing.
Murray cod, yellow belly and carp are often caught in the creek. Boats can be launched at the nearby boat ramp, which is just a two minute walk from the cottage. It is currently difficult to fish from the bank of the creek due to the large amount of water lilies growing in the shallow water. But we have installed a fishing jetty nearby to make it easier for visitors without a boat, to fish. The jetty is a 5 minute walk up stream from The Grove
Kayaks are available for tenants' use at no extra charge. Life jackets are supplied.

The Gunbower Creek is lowered from mid May till mid August. A shallow stream flows in the creek at this time of the year. Therefore the mud banks are exposed and it is difficult to get to the water to fish. Fishing is possible ten minutes from Gunbower in the Murray River. Please contact us if you require further information.
In Gunbower there is a Takeaway Shop that also sells all basic needs, McGillivrays' Butcher Shop and the Gunny Pub for excellent meals .
Locality
The Grove is situated on the Gunbower Creek at Gunbower, Victoria, 40 kilometres west of Echuca.
From Echuca travel towards Kerang along the Murray Valley Highway. Just before entering Gunbower, turn right into Fox Island Road, then right into Richards Road. House entrance is 1.8 km on right amongst the very large gum trees.

The Grove is situated on our cattle farm property of approximately 200 acres. We also have another holiday house on the farm (The Ridge is also listed on this website) which is about 300 metres further down Richards Road.

My girlfriend and I have been back to this property many times together either alone, with our kids (when they were younger) or with our partner or with our complete families, going back to when Sean's parents ran the properties without a booking platform. We love that its very casual as far as children & pets are concerned and the country home accommodates this casual style, allowing us not to stress over cleanliness and fragility of the cottage. We love the peacefulness & the fact we are left alone whilst knowing Sean is very easily contacted if need be.Our last stay was mid winter and warmth was not a problem. Sean and provided more than enough for the slow combustion wood heater on top of te several split systems and oil heater for the bathroom.We will continue to stay at The Grove as long as it exists.

We absolutely loved our time at the grove! So much, we are actually planning to go back next school holidays! Sean & Beth’s beautiful property was exactly what we needed to rest & reset. The property is expansive, rustic, quiet, homely and has everything you could possibly think you might need when getting away from suburban life. It honestly was the perfect winter getaway & nothing was too much trouble for these lovely hosts. Our highlights included meeting Harold the incredibly friendly pony, seeing the cows come close to the property at night, kayaking on the creek & cozying up on the lounge by the indoor fireplace. It’s not often you find a place that caters for larger families but this one does! It had enough room in the lounge for us all to be comfortable, 2 toilets so there was no arguments over the bathroom & even larger pots / cookware that so often you do not find when travelling as a larger family. We did bring our air fryer as teenagers can be fussy, but that was super easy. We also brought extra blankets in case, but again this was taken into consideration & we did not have to bring anything extra other than ourselves, our clothes, air fryer & some marshmallows! Finally, the biggest plus that will continue to drive us back, is the fact that it gave our Great Dane the chance to have lots of room to run & explore. She just loved playing with Harold through the fence & even got the chance to meet Buddy the hosts’ dog. Thanks again, you have repeat guests in us!

Excellent stay. Very quiet location with Gunbower creek just across the road. Shaun is quick responding messaging and very helpful. Nature everywhere and many types of birds.

Loved the location it was so peaceful, The kids enjoyed feeding harold the pony and seeing the cows .Unfortunately the house was lacking the cleanliness, my bed sheets had a stain on it black hair throughout , the couches were filled with hair and food scraps in the folds and most likely have dust mites , the kitchen benches havent been clean in years ! The sugar jar had ants throughout it . The worst part was finding the mop that had been used to clean the floors it was black and very unhygienic i had a toddler and the thought of her being on thoose floors . It was abit dissapointing if it was cleaner it would be great i did read reviews mentioning the cleanless of the property going back years but had of hoped it improved obviously not such a shame we ended up cutting our trip shoet and leaving early .
