Yiayias Home Sifnos

La ubicación perfecta para visitar la isla, del encanto de una casa antigua con un pequeño jardín, el recibimiento con licor y dulces locales, la limpieza extrema de todas la casa que se repetía cada dos días con cambio de sábanas y toallas, la comodidad de las instalaciones, el entorno tranquilo, la intimidad, las vistas desde la terraza, la disposición del personal para ayudarnos.

Solo es accesible a pie a través de calles escalonadas, la antigüedad del baño, el sol que entraba a las seis de la mañana en el dormitorio e impedía seguir durmiendo, un frigorífico ruidoso y la presión de agua era fluctuante según la ocasión.

Lovely old Greek house. Basic but comfortable with a lovely courtyard and a roof terrace with great views. Good communication prior to arrival and plenty of basic foodstuffs provided on arrival.

Everything was fine for us and the location on a hill between the the two main villages (Apollonia and Artemonas) was good for us. This does mean that there can be a number of steps coming to and from the property, which may be difficult for some. However, I’m 64 and it was fine for me.

We had a lovely stay - it was well equipped and comfortable. The cleaning and towel replacement mid week was great as was having beach towels. Neatly tucked away on the hillside up from Apollonia we had an amazing view from our terrace and we had many happy hours reading up there. Definitely recommend going to Artemonas - it’s gorgeous and we wished we had had a few more nights there in the end. It and Apollonia can be reached by the lovely staircases set into the hillside.

It was a lot smaller than we thought it would be. There’s just a small bedroom and small kitchen - the bathroom though is a good size. The terrace is large but separate from the house so you walk up to it from outside but it was fine. Also the walk up to the house with luggage is not for the faint hearted - we had large wheeled suitcases and it was a struggle but fine on the way back down. There is a lot of insect life but you’d expect this.

Yiayia's Home is a lovely property with an incredible terrace in Apollonia. The property is in between Apollonia and Artemonas, and you have to walk through town and up windy stairs to get to it, adding to the very authentic greek village feeling. The property is as shown in photos, with multiple apartments, each with its own little private space. The apartment is fully furnished, with a big kitchen and a nice bedroom. Everything is very comfy. We loved being able to walk into the two towns, and enjoyed our sunsets on the terrace.

Upon arriving, and during our stay, there was a bit of a smell in the bathroom. We communicated this with the owner, who mentioned this was the first time this had happened and helped us in understanding what it may be. While the smell lingered, it was confined to the bathroom, and it was hardly noticeable.
