Manager discretion was very appreciated: I booked two standard rooms to accommodate a family of 4 (two adults +two young adults). Upon arrival Merrihod was overbooked for one of my standard rooms and upgraded one reservation to a deluxe room for an additional cost. After some discussion, the manager approved the deluxe upgrade free of charge and then upgraded the second room to a deluxe room (also free of charge) so the two rooms could be next to each other.
Breakfast was excellent! A full Chinese (dim sum, rice porridge, noodle bar, stir fry, fruit, etc.) and American (eggs, yogurt, breads, dessert pastries etc.) breakfast food was served.
Jinlong Metro Station (Line 7) is nearby, within short walking distance from the hotel. This gave us public transportation access to the high speed Railway Station Guangzhou South (Guangzhounan) and the Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (on Line 3)

Hotel is 7 minutes walk from Jinlong metro station, exit A & a few metro stops from Guangzhou South High speed train station. Delicious breakfast & free snacks in room. Beds were very comfortable & rooms modern.
Property is a bit far from the central areas as by train it will take you average 45-60+ minutes to get to places. Metro is efficient & run regularly, but we found at times getting a DiDi would get us to places faster such as Chimelong Zoo.
Also, the name of the hotel is Merlinhod and miss spelled in booking.com
