Odara Hostel

Gosto muito da localização, assim como das administradoras do local.

Conforto tive dificuldade para dormir colchão e tenho a problematica com gatos, mas estava ciente.

This place was centrally located - only 4 min walk from the Praia Morro de Barra, walkable to restaurants and grocery store, and also a quick uber ride to the historic area / Pelourinho. I had an initial great impression from the friendly staff and how calm it was inside. But then again this was 1-2 weeks after Carnaval's peak, so I could tell a lot of the travelers were just tired and didn't want to socialize as much. I loved the large common area. There is a huge couch and TV and 2 desks. I worked at one of them for 3 hours a day. There is a kitchen but I didn't find the amenities excellent to prepare large meals with. It was a small area and maybe the staff or long-term guests were there cooking mostly - anyway, I did not use the kitchen. I took off one little point for cleanliness as I feel like the bathrooms could use a really deep clean. The entire property is old, so things feel outdated, however, that being said, the AC in the dorm room was good, I actually slept with a very light blanket (I sleep cold), and there was appropriate space to organize belongings plus ample sized lockers (for which they give you a key), in the female dorm. (Sometimes I feel that other dorms are really cramped and that makes for a bad experience). Overall I think this is a great value for a hostel in Barra.

As mentioned, the entire place is kind of old, outdated, creaky. If that doesn't bother you, no problem. The shower could be better!!

Tive uma boa experiência nesse hostel em Salvador. A localização é excelente, facilitando o acesso aos principais pontos da cidade. O ambiente é mais tranquilo, ideal para quem busca descanso, e a limpeza também foi um ponto positivo durante toda a estadia. No geral, é uma boa opção para quem prefere um hostel mais calmo e bem localizado.

Senti falta de maior segurança nos quartos, como chave ou fechadura eletrônica. Em relação ao ar-condicionado, apesar de haver um horário pré-determinado para uso, ainda foi necessário solicitar que ligassem, o que pode gerar um certo desconforto. Outro ponto foi o Wi-Fi: apesar de haver sinalização de rede disponível para hóspedes, não consegui me conectar, pois a rede não aparecia no celular. Com esses ajustes, a experiência pode ficar bem mais completa.

Just an average hostel where one can have a couple of alright nights sleep.

Beds were too shaky. When one of the two were moving, the other one would move too. There were only 3 bathrooms (shower and WC) for the whole hostel. The bathroom light of one of them got broken day 2 of my stay and it took 3 days for them to bring someone to fix it (when I left it was still not fixed). Staff members weren’t the most friendly ones, perhaps due to the language barrier, but they didn’t seem to want to engage much with the guests anyway. No recommendations or tips about the city were given whatsoever. All the staff members were smoking right next to the kitchen, so the smoke would get in the kitchen while people were cooking. I don’t understand why they didn’t go smoke in the upper terrace… In addition, they monopolized the kitchen everyday, so there was barely room for the guests to cook our meals. So in general it felt more like that was their house and we were intruders there. Wouldn’t repeat, unfortunately :/
