Place needs some upgrades.

The apartment’s close proximity to the beach is truly priceless. Being able to walk straight onto the sand was the highlight of our stay. The location overall is excellent, with beautiful sea views and easy access to the promenade. We also appreciated how convenient the area is, with shops, restaurants, and the beach all within walking distance. The sound of the ocean and the relaxed beachside atmosphere were definitely memorable.

I was really looking forward to our stay at Ballito Sands, but several issues made the experience quite disappointing. A number of things in the apartment were not working: some plugs in the kitchen didn’t work, the air conditioner in the second bedroom wasn’t functioning, and the DSTV subscription hadn’t been paid, so we couldn’t watch the women’s tennis (Doha) on Saturday as we had hoped. The smell in the main bedroom’s en suite bathroom was particularly unpleasant. It was genuinely unbearable: it smelled as though someone had eaten prawns in there, which made using the space very uncomfortable. We were also asked to pay a R1000 breakage deposit, which we still have not received back. Overall, the apartment needs refreshing and updating for it to be worth the price charged. The location is great and the unit has potential, but the combination of maintenance issues, the condition of some areas, and the unresolved deposit unfortunately overshadowed our stay.
