I chose this accommodation for its uniqueness. While I underestimated climbing the ladder to the upper room, I loved the big, comfortable bed and the morning view of the lake. The kitchen was well equipped for my purposes, and the small seating area was sufficient. I found it nice for one person.
There really wasn’t anything I disliked about the property. Visitors should be aware that there is some noise as it’s in a residential area with late church singing, and lots of street dogs barking. If you are sensitive to noise, this may not be the place for you. The shower water was cold, but not ice cold in May. I would have felt cramped with another person, even though there was a bunk bed and the full bed.

Centrally located, very unique property, great if you travel light
No hot water, difficult to access particularly with large bags - 2 flights of very steep and wobbly stairs. It is also loud, bring earplugs - not insulated from sound, and there are fireworks, dogs barking, roosters, and tuktuks going all night. The air conditioning is actually two portable evaporative coolers, which don’t work when it’s humid (they just add humidity). It was fun to say I stayed here, but I can’t say I would book again when I come back to San Marcos.
