Anthoula's garden apartments

Anthoula ist eine sehr liebevolle, freundliche und aufmerksame Gastgeberin. Wir haben uns sofort wohl gefühlt. Wir waren zunächst in dem Apartment mit zwei Einzelbetten. Wir fragten an, ob ein Wechsel in das Apartment mit dem großen Bett möglich wäre. Die Gäste neben uns waren am nächsten Tag abgereist, daher konnten wir am nächsten Tag umziehen. Das verlief alles unkompliziert. Die Apartments sind mit einer Küche ausgestattet. Ich habe mich gerne auf der Terrasse des Apartments gesetzt; durch das Grüne fühlte es sich wie eine kleine Oase an. Anthoula hat uns regelmäßig mit frischem Obst und Gemüse aus ihrem eigenen Garten versorgt. Es war ihr wichtig, dass wir uns auf ihrem Grundstück wohl fühlen. Wir waren insgesamt 11 Nächte dort und haben unseren Aufenthalt sehr genossen. Sie hat uns wie ihre eigene Familie behandelt. Wir hatten außerdem die Möglichkeit, an einem traditionellen griechischen Tanzfest teilzunehmen und traditionelle griechische Tänze zu sehen. Wir durften Anthoula auch unter die Arme greifen und ihr auf der Farm mit den Tieren zu helfen. Das hat uns große Freude bereitet. Am dritten Tag zog eine Nachbarin in das andere Apartment ein, und wir haben uns gut mit ihr verstanden. Wenn wir wieder nach Korfu kommen, würden wir die Unterkunft erneut buchen. Das Apartment liegt in einer ruhigen Gegend. In ca. 15 Minuten zu Fuß erreicht man den nächstliegenden Strand Kalviotis. Einkaufsmöglichkeiten sind in ca. 10 Minuten mit dem Auto erreichbar – Lidl und ein griechischer Supermarkt in der Gegend. Ein Mietwagen ist empfehlenswert, um die Insel zu erkunden.

Sich von der Familie zu verabschieden fiel uns sehr schwer.

So I booked this property completely by accident...misread the name. I faced it with some trepidation as there were no reviews ( turns out there is an error with the spelling on the website , so reviews are not getting logged correctly)and was a non refundable booking even though I reported my error within 3hrs. Turns out it was the best mistake ever! I have only positive things to say about the owners ,Anthoula and Spiros, and my experience there. I wasnt treated like a guest but like a family member. I had my Mamma Mia and Big Fat Greek wedding experience in the space of a few days. There were midnight feasts ,with mandolin playing and lessons in greek dancing and a very irate neighbor telling us to shut the f up; A very sumptuous lunch under the orange trees prepared by Anthoula; fresh fruit and vegetables miraculously appearing on the terrace table overnight( courtesy of the fairy godmother that is Anthoula, picked fresh from their farm); invites to watch her sing in the local choir, and perform a traditional dance in the village. Taken out by Spiros on his boat for a memorable ocean adventure. Able to help out on the farm milking goats.The grandkids a pure delight to spend time with. Having only two apartments , the experience was intimate. I had lovely fellow guests and we felt like one big happy family. We're already planning the reunion. Clearly this may not be the experience everyone gets or wants....if you want some quiet solitude, in no way will you be coerced into socializing. I personally loved the warmth. More about the actual property. It is located in a quiet village, in a rural setting. The beach a 15minute walk away. The southern part of the island feels more authentic and untamed. The property has a well equipped kitchen, access to a washing machine and is very clean. Having a car helps to get around to visit some of the secluded beaches and eating spots.There is a bus that goes through the town to get to lefkimmi or corfu town.

Saying goodbye....much tears were shed on both sides....
