Our stay at Ginger Hotel, Rajpur Road, Dehradun, was quite disappointing and far from comfortable. We expected a much better experience, especially considering the Tata branding, but unfortunately, the hotel fell well short of our expectations. The room service and housekeeping were extremely poor. When we checked into our room, there were no towels, and only one mug and one glass were provided. After calling for towels, we received just one large towel and had to request another separately. The towels themselves did not appear clean or well-maintained. They had a dull, blackish appearance rather than the clean, white look one would expect from hotel linen. Even the small towel provided looked more like a floor towel than something meant for guests to use. The housekeeping was equally disappointing. The next day, the tea, coffee, sugar and milk powder sachets were not replenished, leaving us without the basic refreshments that guests normally expect to be restocked during their stay. The quality of the pillows was another major disappointment. The pillows were extremely uncomfortable, with hard, solid lumps that could be clearly felt inside them. They were nowhere near soft or comfortable enough for a good night's sleep. As a result, even sleeping comfortably was a challenge, adding to an already unpleasant stay. The biggest problem, however, was the water supply. We were told that there was an issue with the hotel's pumping system, but the water supply in the bathroom kept getting interrupted. We had to call reception repeatedly to have it restored, and this happened several times throughout the day. Even though we were not in the hotel all day, whenever we returned and needed to use the bathroom, there was a possibility of finding no water. This is extremely inconvenient and unacceptable for any hotel. The shower facilities were also not satisfactory. Overall, the stay was a very unpleasant experience. Basic amenities, cleanliness, comfortable bedding, proper housekeeping and a reliable water supply are fundamental requirements of any hotel, not luxuries. We expected a considerably higher standard from a hotel carrying the Tata name, but unfortunately, our experience did not reflect the quality and reputation we associate with the brand. I would strongly urge the management to address these issues urgently. With better maintenance, improved housekeeping, quality linen and pillows, reliable water supply and more attentive service, the guest experience could be significantly improved. As things stand, this hotel did not meet our expectations, and we left feeling thoroughly disappointed.
