Chalet Barranco Hondo Agaete

This picturesque chalet is located in a remote rural area in the mountains near Agaete. Its quite difficult to find, the adress mentioned in booking.com can be ignored, you have to use google maps to find the path aka trail to the house. Car navigation wont help either. The chalet is somewhat smaller then the photos do indicate. At ground level you have a good sized kitchen area, a proper sized bathroom, a small living room without any windows and a proper sized bedroom with 1 single and 1 double bed. The first level, only accessible by the outside stairs, contains a big bedroom with a double bed and a pretty sized roof terrace with an inflatable jacuzzi. This bedroom has no toilet or running water, this means if you have to go to the bathroom at night that can be quite cumbersome, especially if you have a weak bladder and you are staying for a couple of weeks. The outside area itself is quite spacious with an additional covered area to dine (or bbq) outside, a small shed, a pvc swimming pool without heating and lots of parking room. Also a couple of places with garden chairs to sit nicely, hang out and relax. The place itself is a very calm, relaxing and nice place to stay at. You have sometimes dogs barking over yonder, the occasional rooster screaming in the morning and some flies flying around but hey, you are right in the middle of a rural area. The chalet is well equipped with kitchen appliances, a couple of towels, bbq, parasols, relaxing chairs and whatnot. Some big supermarkets (HiperDino, Lidl and more) are located pretty much nearby. The coastal village Agaete is about 10 minutes of driving away and has some nice restaurants but not alot of free parking space. The cleaning lady and maintenance guy (they are perhaps also the owners? Couldn't figure it out) are also very kind and friendly. It is a nice and quiet place to spend you holiday at with a max of about 5 people or lets say 2 couples.

You have to travel an unpaved, rocky, poorly maintained and muddy trail (its definately not a road) of about 1.2 kilometers from the main road to get to your destination. And each trip takes a while because you have to drive very slowly and carefully. Also the entrance to the property is extremely muddy and I almost got stuck after a while because of deep ruts forming. This means you *must* rent a car with enough ground clearance like an SUV, preferably a 4x4 or at least a crossover. Also full coverage of your rental is highly recommended. You can get pretty tired of travelling it when you are staying a couple of weeks, especially if you have a rental that is not up to the task. I was always afraid to get stuck in my compact. I limited travel to 2 times a day at max. The owner has some building materials and sea containers located on this site that is visible from the house. It looks messy and it is but it didnt bother me. There are some bushes planted trying to retract this from your view but they are not fully grown yet. I think this property is still developed and improved further as time goes by. Mounted on the outside of the building there are at least 2 security camera's which gave me sometimes the uncomfortable feeling that I was being watched or monitored. I understand such a remote location needs to be secured but would be nice if the camera's would turn away towards for instance a wall during your stay there. At least 1 sometimes did (they are remotely controlled) but not the other. The only thing i really missed where cushions for the relaxing chairs outside and a dishwasher in kitchen. Yes, there is no dishwasher. The matresses of the beds are also not very comfortable, but that is a personal preference I quess. A few downsides but the good feeling, nice surrounding, beautiful nature and quietness prevails. Overall I enjoyed really my staying here. My rental car begs to differ.. Hope this helps somebody.

Domek z pełnym wyposażeniem , miejscem do grillowania , duża przestrzenią bez sąsiadów wokół. Domek czysty , dużo ręczników i kocy do korzystania , gospodarz bardzo pomocny . Śliczne otoczenie .

Droga dojazdowa jest ciężka, całe szczęście że wypożyczyliśmy większe auto bo mniejszym ciężko było by tam wjechać warto zwrócić uwagę na wybór auta jeżeli wynajmujecie Domek, poza tym wszystko fajnie.
