About this apartment rental

It`s old, it`s rustic, it leans a bit.... but it`s an awesome location in the center of downtown Alpine over looking the main street, train station, and is upstairs above the cutest little souvenir shop you`ve ever seen.

The building is one of Alpine’s original structures. Built in approximately 1898 as the Alpine Furniture Store, (we said it was old) the building housed the Valadez Grocer for many years in the mid- 1900’s.
After sitting vacant, the building saw a fresh start as Murphy Street Raspa in the early 2000’s (they had the best snow cones) and most recently as Murphy Street Provisions (that cute little souvenir shop we mentioned earlier).

The upstairs loft-style unit provides a rustic space with modern conveniences scattered throughout, including a king size bed. And that lean.... is about 2 1/2 degrees. The floors are the original hardwood so they can be a bit rough in some areas. Walking barefoot may cause some discomfort.

The kitchenette has a sink, microwave, coffee maker and a small refrigerator. It is not a fully equipped kitchen.

If you`re looking for something with more character than a chain hotel room - this is it!.

The location was near a train track but it's in the middle of town, so expect 2 am train horns. No biggie for me was sort of cool. The apartment was funky-cool with good features and I enjoyed the open space! Bathroom was fine, kitchen was right there with fridge and coffee maker. Cons1: driveway had a big bump where our car would bottom out. I bought a shovel and filled it in while we were there.2: Beautiful Mulberry tree shaded the huge deck, but it was mulberry season and there were tons of mulberrys squishing underfoot. Messy.3: There was only some old coffee that was pecan flavored , so bring your own coffee. It was nice enough for the price, but bnb's are pretty much "b" bed anymore. Hotels tend to serve breakfast and coffee now.

From the moment we walked in, the place felt welcoming and spacious—perfect for the three of us. Staying in such a historic building was a treat, and its charming “leaning tower” only added to the fun and character. The host was excellent with communication from check-in to checkout, making everything seamless. The boutique shop downstairs and the designated parking were great bonuses—highly recommend!

host was very easy and quick to communicate! a simple but cozy place to stay, had everything i needed, and i especially enjoyed the plug in heater for the bathroom! it so cute! i will say, take the floor info seriously and bring some slippers or be prepared to just wear ur shoes inside, those charming old floors will give u a splinter if you’re barefoot! host does mention the unfinished floors in the lodging info so thanks for the heads up! really enjoyed my stay here with a couple friends for a quiet birthday weekend :) thank you!!

What a neat quirky place to stay with tons of room and was perfect for my trip! Host was very communicative. Would stay again!! Just a note: Amtrak train stop is extremely close and their last stop in town is around 11pm and you’ll know it. This isn’t a knock on Leaning Tower as all other rentals/hotel in this part of Alpine would also know it.
